M&S Sparks card - 20% off clothes online

I have just received an M&S Sparks card in the post, went on to activate it and I have a choice of offers - 20% off womens clothes online to use today, free percy pig sweets if you spend over £15 in the food hall, free roses if you buy champagne etc - pick one.

I think you can just go into your account (or open one) and activate a sparks card even if you haven't had one posted yet.

But worth it if this is how they are going to do their offers from now on?

Obviously I now must find something to buy with my 20% code that expires today - clearly will be on a hiding to nothing!

Bit unfortunate for M&S that searching on 'Sparks club' takes you to a gay bar in the US. Do you think they did their homework on the name?

PS. Just to be clear, I'm sure the gay bar is lovely, but not quite the M&S image.

Their website always freezes when they do any sort of mass promotion.

I'd probably go for the percy pigs, as I've just used a 25% discount I got for my birthday. I went wild and bought some new jammies and a load of new socks.

I think I did see it expires today. No doubt it will be replaced by something not as useful.

I got mine yesterday. I've bought from them quite a lot in the past year and imagine that's why I got one.

The online 20% off did expire on the day you activate it. Ordered some PJs, tights and black skinny jeans.

I don't think you need to activate it ASAP, but once you do activate and choose your offer (choice of 20% off online, free Percy Pigs when spending £15 in store, 10% off food in store and free roses with a purchase of something I've forgotten), the 20% off online is the only one of them that is only valid that day. The others had 11 days to use. It says you will get your next offer after collecting a certain amount of "sparks" (points).

I don't think you can, I know there was a list of exclusions but I threw out the information after using it too.

Bugger. I activated it then didn't check the small print so I think it's expired.

It's not just clothes, it's anything from their website. I got and activated mine yesterday morning, then ordered some pasta bowls I've been meaning to get, plus some bits for Christmas. My 20% discount, plus a £10 e-voucher I got ages ago meant it cost me peanuts. And they've delivered today! Smile

All very well... but I tried to get the Percy pigs - I selected the offer and went off to the shops, but the sales assistants knew nothing about it. Told me to go and get a packet and they would try to ring it through, but after 10 minutes of trying (including refunding all my purchases and ringing them through again) I gave up in despair. Sent an email to M&S who have now asked me to go back to the shops and ask to see the manager to get the Percy Pigs. Like I'm going to travel into town specially, for a bag of sweets....

You'd think they would say oh just take the pigs!

The app seems fairly hopeless too, when I try and look at "your Tailor-made offer" it just says there is an error.

So I can see how many sparks I have, but can't see what I can actually use them for. Bravo M&S.

Hi I was annoyed they stopped the old stamped coffee card, so buy Costas instead as I have points card at least I can retrieve the points earned. Sparks card is crap. whose silly idea was that! At least with Waitrose u get free coffee and 20% off. Odeon have loyalty card that gives us a free entry, sometimes two if you use it when buying tickets and food, really good offer. As I thought all the reviews of this card echo what my thoughts were about it. Waste of plastic. M&S had cocked up this one! I would get it if I could accrue points and at least get money off or free coffee but otherwise who cares about a fashion show?
I'm a 50+ mother of two older boys, three cats and one husband so hope I'm eligible for this website. Feeling a bit left out lately, everything seems to be about younger parents, we still have issues to deal with even when they are 21 and 42!
