Smile I'm so drab & grey & lumpy. Next Tuesday I'm meeting with an ex colleague for a coffee to talk about getting back into work.
I'm seperated...he's divorced/hot Wink
I don't want to go over the top & look try hard for coffee but I'm thinking dye the grey bits/get nails done. What else would you do to feel a bit better? My confidence is on the floor so I need to feel better about how I look. Is teeth whitening/ eyebrow shaping too much I've never had those in just trying to think of things...ty

I'm going to go against the grain and say dye the hair. Its really no big deal to put a 24 wash home semi through it and it will make your hair shiny and make you less self conscious about the grey. Grey hair is beautiful. Grey patches in non grey hair is not a good look.

I'd do nails, eyebrows and nice makeup then find an outfit that suits you and that makes you feel good about yourself and make sure you smell really really good.

crest whitestrips work for teeth but you'd struggle to get them delivered in time I suspect (ebay)

I have recently started getting HD brows done and they have made a big difference to my appearance without me trying too hard!

Nonnainglese · 14/10/2015 17:36

Definitely get hair done and get makeup done at a beauty counter just before meeting?
Good luck!

If I want to feel good I usually get my hair cut, dye it at home. Either pluck out stray eyebrows or get them threaded. Shave my legs and armpits. Nice long shower, face wash, and moisturise all over, followed by light foundation and loose powder. Maybe mascara though I don't tend to wear it these days. Oh and lip gloss and maybe a little blusher/bronzer.

Once I was due to meet an ex bf. I was really nervous and felt like crap and I asked one of the make up women at the beauty counters for help. She did my make up and was so nice she made me feel loads better.

I was going to say perfume too.

I often have spritz as I wander through department stores and it's nice to try something new.

I nice hair clip or scarf could be added without too dressy.

mani
wear earrings if you have holes for them]
brow wax
watch Amy Cuddy TED talk for confidence
Plan what you're going to wear so you're not grabbing stuff out of the laundry bin that morning
Don't wear perfume - he may hate it (fine when you're together, but scent is so personal and he may also connect it with his ex!).

BlueEyedWonder · 14/10/2015 20:59

Have eyebrows threaded.
Have a hair cut and maybe a few highlights through the top section.
Blusher makes me look lots better.
wear clothes you feel comfortable in.
Please report back how it goes!!!

JessePinkman2 · 14/10/2015 23:00

Thank you so much everyone.
I have an outfit in mind, blue skinnie jeans & dark blue shirt with white dots & mid calf boots I feel confident in it
Your far better going for a natural 'look in beaming' that a major slap on when it's just not you you could not be more right that's the look I want but it doesn't come natural & I need foundation definitely!
Perfume, I don't wear as I'm worried it's overpowering. I would love something subtle though?
I don't know what hd brows is I'll look into that.
I will let you know how it goes, thanks for caring! Just to ramp up the pressure he's texted tonight to say look forward to seeing me again winky emoji, yeah sorry buddy that was two stone ago!!! Grin

Nite white works for teeth. I got mine through orthodontist but I think you can buy it online. You could always get a cheap gum shield from a home whitening kit instead of the expensive "made to measure" ones from dentist then buy the nite white gel online... Don't leave it on overnight though - it's very strong!! A few hours is enough.

AMonsterInParis · 15/10/2015 12:41

Just to say that I'd you have never had HD brows done before get a recommendation as they can look bloomin' awful if not done well! But agree with others, hair, nails, nice perfume, easy to wear outfit and you can't go far wrong!

AMonsterInParis · 15/10/2015 12:42

Gah! If, not I'd! I can't type on these tablet thingys!

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 15/10/2015 12:47

All good suggestions here, I'd just like to add that soft, loose hairstyles are usually more flattering than anything too scraped back off the face.

maybemyrtle · 15/10/2015 13:01

Sorting out nails and hands always make me feel more groomed. Hand cream to get rid of any dryness, and tidy up nails and cuticles. Don't need to paint them a colour if you don't normally, just tidying them and a topcoat does the trick I think. I'm plagued by hangnails and feel a million times better when I take the time to sort them out. I gesticulate a lot so they are on show!

dibly · 15/10/2015 14:15

Ellie Saab perfume in pale pink bottle is lovely and subtle. Good luck!

WaggleBee · 15/10/2015 17:45

Hair blow dry on the day. Something with soft waves if it's long or longish.

Nails painted the day before.

Bobbi brown for blusher, ask counter for advice on shade or look at swatches and reviews online. If you're Caucasian, a pink blush does amazing things to brighten your face.

Tinted lip gloss. Not full on lipstick if you're not used to it. Plus you're eating so it's easier to quickly reapply in the loo. Clinique do gorgeous ones as do No7.

Smile!

chickentothefox · 15/10/2015 19:43

No 7 sheer lipstick is really good.
