How to smarten up trousers and a cardi or jumper in winter?

I have a front facing role at work. In warmer months I just wear a suit but in winter when I wear a coat or jacket I end up wearing a top with a cardi or a v next jumper with trousers or a skirt and boots. Suit jacket and coat on top makes me look massive with huge shoulders.

I often have to go out of the office to meet clients and I just feel that this is a little informal. I am thinking jewellery might smarten the look up a little - what do you think?

I tend to wear wider leg trousers with flat pumps or brogue type shoes (hambles from clarks if you know the ones).

Woud slimmer leg trousers work? I don't particularly like really high heels at work because I have to walk and sometimes drive a alot.

Any thoughts would be great. I am a 10/12 bottom half and a 12/14 top half.

I know it's not quite what you're asking but I have a nice smart woollen dress I often wear with thick tights and smart boots in the winter. I usually have a vest top underneath and a jacket on top when needed

Fine merino sweater with a uniqlo heattech top underneath - hopefully warm and not too bulky

Second heat tech ... With merino or even a shirt

Jewellery would do the trick
And consider a blazer vs a cardi. .. I have one from uniqlo wool flannel which I wear most days in winter so you wouldn't necessarily need to spend a lot
