How long from deciding you wanted it/ first consultation with the orthodontist etc to actually having them fitted?

My dentist is so booked up and busy that the process is going to take forever I think!!

I had my first, initial consultation last week and I don’t have my second until the 21st Oct! What does the second consultation entail? I’m hoping x-rays at least? I then have a hygienist appointment a couple of days later. Which appointment did they do the moulds?

Sorry for all the Q’s but I’d really like to have my trays fitted by Dec, as otherwise I’m looking at the New Year!

Hi Mamma,

I was initially going to go for the Inman Aligner but the dentist showed me one and I didn't think it was that attractive, you would be able to see the brackets when you smile etc and it's like a clear band across your teeth, so actually, you would notice it quite a lot. HOWEVER, that wasn't why I chose not to go with the Inman in the end, I had another first consultation with a different practice to see if the first practice's quote was reasonable.

They said they have stopped doing Inman aligners as they had a lot of clients not pleased with the outcome, the aligners were breaking a lot and were ugly etc. He said they could do it if I really wanted but Invisalign was a much more professional process with better results so I decided to go with Invisalign.

Thank you so much SummerStars that's really helpful. I can't find a lot of practices offering Inman so maybe that's the reason why! Good luck with your treatment. I'll post back after my appointment if this thread is still going.

I am a dentist and a patient of mine is having invisalign, he only wears his appliances at night (despite being told 22hours) and his teeth are moving well, if a little slowly.

I don't do any tooth moving but I will say, you must must must must have retainers forever as the teeth will continue to move.

Everyone's teeth move as they get older, not just people who have had orthodontic treatment but if you've moved your teeth from where they were genetically programmed to live, the genes will want them back where they were. It's like dying your hair doesn't stop it growing back its natural colour.

Just an update!

I had my Invisalign braces fitted an hour ago.

All good so far, got a slight headache so I've just taken 2 ibuprofren!

Can't believe I've FINALLY got them, 3 months since first deciding. It's quite a long process (or at least it was for me!)

I think it's best to go for Invisalign Express- works in 6 months. (more expensive though).

I only have 14 trays, so only need to have Invisalign for 7 months Smile
