Am living in trousers which is not like me - normally spend a lot of the winter in boots and skirts.

Is it just me or are there no skirts in the shops at the moment?

I bought a lovely black jersey tulip shaped skirt from TK Maxx it is so useful and really flattering with thick black tights

Yes It is not a big puffball thing quite slim shape. It has a deep waistband with a sort of sash thing that ties at the side.

If you have a Bennetton anywhere near I just bought a knitted flared calf-length type skirt from there (sort of knitted patterns texture thing going on, don't know the technical word for it), looks much nicer than it sounds, quite flattering and v. nice with boots.

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 16:02

i feel like a 1970s housewife in skirts in winter

BrandyTutter · 01/12/2006 16:04

ditto cod. hence the only skirts i wear are denim ones. got a nice one from gap atm.

I think skirt and tights, esp if you wear boots, is warmer than trousers - gives you 2 layers, unless it's a mini.

I'd really like a winter skirt for work - I'm thinking long, grey, warm and smart - in a size 16. Any suggestions??!

GameGirly · 01/12/2006 16:11

Bought 2 nice ones at lunchtime from Coast. Quite dressy but I reckon they can be dressed up or down IYKWIM - changing boot, shoes, belts, plain jumpers and sparkly tops and what not. Mind you, I can't afford both - one will have to go back on Monday. I'll let DH choose!

Any links please - long, dark, winter work skirt that will make me look smart but glam....

Hi

I recently bought a nice bias cut black and white sort of marl effect skirt from Next. Looks great with a white shirt and heels or high boots and a polo neck.

I need to get a denim skirt to wear with boots too.

Classic, but nice? or something a bit more flared ? (mostly for dottydot)

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 11:08

This is lovely, but not sure how thick it is - might be more of an evening one?

brimfull · 04/12/2006 11:20

Dottydotthehalls · 04/12/2006 11:23

I like the flared Wallis one! Thanks - gives me an idea of the shape and what I'm looking for (Dottydot puts Wallis vouchers on her Christmas list
