Is anyone a dressmaker or just knows about fashion, need dress help asap please!

Hi, I am 5 ft 1", 8 stone, wear size 6 -8 usually. Have nothing chest wise but am a bit J Lo on the backside area, weird I know...as you can imagine getting stuff to fit me is a nightmare. Now I've got a posh do to go to so I've bought this dress in a size 6

As you can see the waist is naturally a lot narrower than the hips or shoulders and this is causing a problem, I can't get it on! 1) it is not elasticated at all and 2) the zip does not go below the waistline to open it up.

What do you think?? A design fault or would a size 8 fit? It looks as if it should really it's plenty big enough it's just this waist problem. Thanks

I'm a dress maker. If it doesn't fit at the waist or anywhere else for that matter u need to try a bigger size. It's expensive but if the eight is too big on the chest the darts on chest area may be adjusted. But it looks like a double layered dress so this wouldn't be easy,,, my advice is try another six if poss to check its not a flaw. Then if that's the same try an eight. If it doesn't fit........go back to the drawing board X

Won't it go on over your head? Or could you get a longer zip put in?

oooh I feel sooooo silly, the zip did go further down but it was well disguised and it didn't help I was panicking trying it on!
