What would you wear to a quirky posh afternoon tea?

I'm struggling, I have two quirky posh afternoon teas lined up for birthday week - one of which will spill over into cocktails in the bar I suspect, the other most definitely wont but is Mayfair. I'm flip flopping between a understated lindy bop dress, to pencil skirt but not sure about top half, to a ponte dress from boden to black skinnies and a dressy top.

Any inspiration? I'm a large size 14, fairly busty, 5'6 and not one for dresses normally but as a SAHM they feel a bit OTT on a day to day basis.

Define quirky posh afternoon tea.....

I never post in style and beauty but was drawn in by your quirky posh afternoon tea. I love "but is Mayfair" in your description.

I have been to a quirky posh afternoon tea (I think) in recent memory and wore a skirt with tights and boots as was winter and a top. The top was purple and had long sleeves.

Oooh, they do Thai massage there. Grin

It looks a bit gothic, Id wear a corset top and a pencil skirt.

How about the ponte dress and a quirky brooch? or the pencil skirt and a Victoriana blouse?

BrendaandEddie · 26/09/2015 21:42

oh that whole hting looks shite

wear jeans

mewkins · 26/09/2015 21:48

That place is like a Tim Burton film brought to life! Go as Helena Bonham Carter?!

Or in real life I would go for wide leg trousers and a nice top.

calzone · 26/09/2015 21:49

I think you could wear anything really.

Think I would go for either a Hobbs tea dress I have or go all out with a rara skirt and corset top!

shedragon · 26/09/2015 22:02

Agree don't wear that corset and pencil thing.

Just wear what's comfortable. It's tea.

Mintyy · 26/09/2015 22:17

Omg I clicked on the link and I don't know what to say!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2015 22:48

No to a corset. Wear a dress, but a nice one. Westwood if you can afford it. Otherwise a full midi skirt and fitted top. skirt

amarmai · 27/09/2015 00:12
