Joules tunic and black leggings, what does it say to you?

Have just had baby, only have summer maternity clothes and have gained 3 stone during pregnancy. Thinking of ordering a couple of Joules tunics to hide thecjelly belly, can wear with maternity leggings for now.

Haven't worn Joules before and wondered what image/impression it gives. Is it mumsy or trying to be trendy or just bog standard or what?

The tunic I quite liked was this one:-

Thanks!

Or any ideas where I can buy similar tunics to hide a multitude of sins please?

I don't think the top is hideous. I do think that wearing it with leggings isn't a good idea though. Could you get some cheap jeans in a size up from your 'old' size, maybe? Or some skinny cords, perhaps?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/09/2015 19:43

Forgot to say congratulations! :)

Thanks for the reply. So why not leggings? Bad with that top or just in general? I could buy some jeans but not sure what size to get, tried on some 20s that fitted the other day but was a 12/14 before and only 8 days post-partum at the mo so not sure how fast stomach could shrink.

To me it says either pregnant or have a small baby. I'm currently 26 weeks and living in tunics, waterfall cardigans and leggings. I can feel the judgement of the mn style and beauty queens every time I get dressed.

I also get tunics from Fat Fat, White company and.White Stuff.

Oh and thanks for the congrats Smile

Looks lovely, only hesitation would be the neckline if you have great fullness of the boob department (wouldn't work for me) maybe?

I've a couple (M&S, sainsburys) with slightly higher rounded necklines and work really well.

But whatever you choose it'll say 'wow she looks great for having just had a baby'! Smile

Fluffy24 · 25/09/2015 19:51

Maternity skinny jeans would be great with it, if you buy enormous non maternity jeans they'll not fit properly in the bum and legs and never be as comfy!

TweedAddict · 25/09/2015 19:52

I love joules but you will find nicer ones from fat face. Also have an look at the fat face jeggings they are really stretchy and comfy and high waisted, maybe not for now but in an little while.

NotTodaySatan · 25/09/2015 19:55

Congrats on the new baby Flowers

Honestly I would assume that someone wearing that tunic and leggings was dressing for comfort over style. Which is fine of course. Especially when you've just had a baby. I lived in size 16 jeans and a hoody for the first few months weeks.

8 days postpartum buy what makes you feel comfortable now. I think they talk about the fourth trimester?

Ear healthily and start exercising when you are up to it (long walks with a buggy are very good, assuming you aren't also dragging along toddlers). However, you're body is still changing and you are allowed to look like you just had a baby when you have just had a baby.

AliBingo · 25/09/2015 19:56

Ooh thanks for the tips, have looked at Fatface and like their tunics too. Will try some maternity skinnies but weight has gone on everywhere - I ate my way through the morning sickness unfortunately! With my last two babies I was much fatter and ended up in joggers and baggy t-shirts and felt really crap so I want to look like I've made some effort even if the result is a bit mumsy.

Your body! Eat not ear!

Came on to say Fat Face but to also to suggest Great Plains sale range for jersey tops that are great for wearing with leggings or jeans. Layer up with cardis or de-constructed blazers from New Look and wear biker boots (nice and sturdy for all those long walks with the pram). Cheaper shops are your friend while your shape is changing, H and M can be surprisingly good for jersey separates and soft knits if you only want one season. Enjoy the autumn sun and your new baby.

AliBingo · 25/09/2015 20:52

Great thanks will also try great plains, new look and H&M. Had forgotten about New Look, they're usually quite good.
