Never peel them off, that's what damages your nails! My natural nails are stronger than ever and I have them done every fortnight.

To remove properly, buff the surface to break the seal of the gel. Put a piece of cotton pad soaked in acetone over the nail acetone wrap it on with tin foil. Watch Eastenders and after about 20 minutes take off and scrape the gel off with an orange stick. Buff your nails and it's done. Don't soak your fingertips in acetone as this causes over exposure and is bad for your skin.

When you've had a gel polish don't file your nails. This breaks the seal at the top and causes peeling and chipping. I've got a manual job and mine could last 3 weeks or more but I get bored easily so like a change!

I've been researching too, had seen 30 pounds but just got mine done about 2 minutes outside of the city for 15

Get a lot to do your own. That's what I do. Mine was ??23 on eBay!

I meant "kit"!

Does it take long doobeedee?

I found Gelish lasts longer than shellac. I did pay 10 pounds on special offer. Normally 20

You must be careful with certain chemical cleaners though. Some make the polish lift up.best to wear those thin plastic gloves .

I wanted to get mine done for my wedding. Half my free edges are below the skin line so there's nothing to wrap the Gelish under.

Probably will give myself a decentmanicure( I did a nail course) and put some polish on for the day.

doobeedee could you say which products you use? I have a uv thing that I picked up from a school fair with all the filing bits (??2, total bargain!) and I would love to be able to do my own. How do you avoid painting your fingers?!
