yet not bonkers

oh it is soo hard

cool shortish sweaterdress that you can wear over black opaque tights

or a roland mouret from gap dress (needs accessories to make funky)

or accessories - long string of cool chunky beads

I bought a really nice dress from Jigsaw the other day. It is slightly bohemian I think (I really like Jigsaw these days, but worry that this just means I have become middle aged )

my mind says velvet coat, velvet coat!
or velvet jacket with ribbon tie
or beaded jacket
or chinese silk jacket

you get my drift - something you can sling over standard black trous / old black dress / best jeans that takes 0 effort but looks instantly party and slightly glam.

Might be hard to do funky though - more classic and elegant - but will last longer than a sweater dress that says 'AW2006!'

There is a gorgeous aubergine woolen short jumper dress in M&S.It has a v nech tie belt and bell sleeves V flattering Would look great with thick tights and high round toed shoes It is only about £30 too and looks very stylish

A fitted shirt dress (H&M £30 or House of Fraser £70) you can wear it on it's own with a funky belt & boots or wear it over trousers with a camisole underneath with only 1 button done up - looks fab!
