Not a day goes by without a catalogue from one of the above dropping through my door. I must have got myself on a mailing list.

Everything is limp, shapeless and putty-coloured. And so expensive!

Am I missing something? Is there a distinctive USP of one of these brands that I need to know about?

I get all these catalogues too. Also suspect Boden sold my details.

In theory I like a lot of the items but most only look good on someone very tall and slim to balance out the oversized look.

WendyTorrance · 06/09/2015 07:56

I get all of those catalogues too, must be because I use Ocado.

I also get loads of 'Healthy Living' type catalogues that are full of commodes,'living aids' etc. And all because I once bought a glow-in-the-dark Jesus from them. Tut.

BestIsWest · 06/09/2015 08:08

I love all thus stuff. But I'm 52. If I was in my 30s I'd be buying clothes in Topshop.

WipsGlitter · 06/09/2015 08:13

I get some of them. Got the sweaty Betty one this week, very excited as I'm currently on a fitness kick - £75 for a pair of legging?!!! WTF??

june il. Eat my words that jumper is lovely. What's the sizing like?

Think yourselves lucky. Wait till you're on all the over-50 lists and they're sending you House of Bruar and Artigiano.

ExConstance · 06/09/2015 12:26

I started getting the Saga stuff at 50, but now, having endured 9 years of mailings about funeral plans I had my first trying to sell me a stairlift this week - and I'm not even 60 yet!! I love Toast, the knitwear is amazing and they do have a very genuine sale.

Floisme · 06/09/2015 12:41

I can cope with funeral plans and even stairlifts - just please stop sending me this:

Flo the House of Bruar cafe is quite nice if you are ever passing. It's possible to avoid the clothes and just nip in for nice scones.

Floisme · 06/09/2015 13:04

Oh I feel mean now Blush Thanks for the tip, I love a nice scone.

PosterEh · 06/09/2015 13:05

I've bought from Boden but not Ocado and never had these catalogues. I am in Ireland though so maybe they don't want to pay the postage.

Flo don't feel mean, the clothes are dreadful.

The whole place is very 'naice'. There's a deli too, Mumsnet would love it.

noiwontstoptalking · 06/09/2015 13:17

Euphemia the scenery is pretty though.

Floisme · 06/09/2015 13:20

Maybe we should have an S&B meetup there Grin

JuneFromBethesda · 06/09/2015 13:22

Yay Wips Smile I ordered L as I'm a tall size 14 with big boobs (32G) but I found it a bit too roomy, so I've returned it for an M. It's a lovely medium weight and the colour is fab, the v-neck is just the right depth and I know I'll wear it to death.

Incidentally, Hush made a big fuss this season about their 'new sizing' and how it was designed to make ordering easier - so I checked their new measurements and according to them I'm a 14-16 on top (big boobs), 18 round the waist Shock and 10-12 on the bottom. My measurements are 39-35-39 so yes I carry more weight around my waist but my figure really isn't that outlandish.

Sorry, bit of a tangent there ... I was just somewhat irritated by that!

AncoraAmarena · 06/09/2015 13:42

June love that jumper, I love a star print, me.

How long would you say it was? Hip length or longer/shorter?

AncoraAmarena · 06/09/2015 13:43

Actually, I should have asked if it covers your bum!

JuneFromBethesda · 06/09/2015 14:10

I love a star print too, I'm always on the lookout Grin It's hip length, not bum-covering.

AncoraAmarena · 06/09/2015 14:31

Fab, thank you June!

LyndaNotLinda · 06/09/2015 17:31

I got that letter about sizing June. I thought 'glad it's not just me that's noticed it's entirely inconsistent' and put it in the bin. I should have checked my measurements against it.

I get all those catalogues too so I think it must be Boden. I keep the Sweaty Betty one in the loo to amuse myself but perhaps I should laminate it to the fridge :o
