Desperately seeking the perfect trench (high street!)

As title says. Searching for a classic trench, under £100. Any recommendations?
I know investing in a Burberry or Max Mara, etc would be great long run as they're timeless but this kind of logical explanation doesn't automatically up my credit limit, sadly.

Just bought one today from house of Fraser online, they had dozens in the sale. Mine was 150 down to 40 quid!

Mines has gone but there's loads of different ones. There's a spotted trench down from 200 quid to 40 quid

I always buy mine from Gap - I have 4 on the go at the moment. I think they are good quality, and most of them are machine washable. Go for the really thick cotton ones instead of the thin unlined options.

Marks and Spencer has a lovely dark beige trench in at the mo, and I think also in navy. Very annoyingly though, only the petite version comes with a hood - what's that about? Are non-petite women considered more showerproof? Doesn't our hair matter??!

Watching with interest.
All the links are great but I want one with a hood
CBA with umbrellas.

BoboChic · 03/09/2015 10:38

Trenches don't usually have hoods, though.

hellsbellsmelons · 03/09/2015 10:43

I know that's why I'm struggling so much.
But that's my ideal.
Maybe that's my new business niche idea? Grin

hellsbellsmelons · 03/09/2015 11:00

It's not too bad.
Bit cheap looking.
I'd like to see it with the hood up as well.
Sometimes the hoods are huge and just not usable anyway!

hellsbellsmelons · 03/09/2015 11:07

bargain if you want a long one!

MagicalRealist · 03/09/2015 11:10

Hmm... would a rain hat be completely out of the question?? It would give you a lot more coat options...

I think I like the M&S one best so far.. shall be going in store and trying it on on Thursday.
Anymore seen on your sartorial travels??
I don't require a hood - in fact, I don't want one as then that is a hooded mac as opposed to a trench really... Just to be a pedant.
