Clothes Show Live

I'm taking dd (13) to the Clothes Show on Sunday, as a pre-Christmas treat.

We have tickets for the Show at 10am, but other than that, I really don't know what to expect.

Has anyone been before, and could pass on some tips as to how to best use the day? I know that I'm normally on my knees at NEC shows by mid afternoon, but wouldn't want to miss out on anything that she might enjoy.

Thanks.

im going on friday and i have been for the last few years. there are different coloured sections and you are probably best just working from end to the other to be perfectly honest. in the last section you can normally get make overs and your hair done so if you think she would like that done you might want to head over there straight after the show though and work your way backwards.

That's just the sort of info I need. I've never been - she's only 13, so it will be a treat, but I'll need to have some ideas beforehand. We have tickets for the 10 show. Does it get really busy do you know? And can you buy clothes there?
Thanks so much for the info!

weekends are busiest and also the 1st day and last day (cos of the sales.) in the green zone you can watch demos from pineapple dance studios. in the pink zone you can The Pink Zone combines all things to make you look beautiful! Take a walk through this zone to get yourself a whole new look.

Rimmel and Bourjois will give you advice and tips on how to do your make up and you can get hair advice from some of the stands too and watch top hairdressers at work.

Sugar and rimmel normally do goody bags.
At the superdrug stand there is a modelling competition and winners will be chosen daily.

Benjamin Hart (Foz from Hollyoaks) will be on the Storm stand signing limited eidtion prints of his calender, will be on both the Superdrug Hair and Beauty Stage and the Music stage. Lots of the Storm Men will be visiting the stand and you will be able to have photographs taken with them and they will be uploaded onto the Storm My Space site.

Also on the superdrug stage you can hear top beauty experts giving their top tips.

in the blue zone is the designer catwalk and there is also a students display and there's a champagne bar for you
and there's a catwalk in the purple zone too and in the red zone is the music stage where katie price (jordan) and peter andre will be if you are going on a sunday.

btw i have written about the different zones in backwards order, so red zone is right next to the theatre where the fashion show is at 10 and green is the furthest away.

and yes you can buy clothes, jewellery, make up, hair products, belts, bags, shoes, trainers, pyjamas, cuddly toys, rugs, cushions, purses, makeovers, basically everything!

I've taken DD every year since she was 14 (she's now 20). Love Clothes Show. Like a massive market with lots of freebies being given away too. Make up on special offer etc.

Get queued up for the 10am show by 9.30am if you haven't purchased the special Platinum fast track tickets. You don't want to be still filing in and trying to find your seat when the lights go down.

Also, plan to have lunch early or late because the food hall gets packed out between 12 and 2. We tend to have a baked tattie or something as soon as we come out of the 10am show (about 11.30am), then something later on in the afternoon when we start to wilt a bit.

Have a great time

Oh, and take a small bag coz you get given loads ... too many to carry comfortably by mid-afternoon. And wear comfy shoes and light clothing coz it gets hot and sticky, plus you will be trying clothes on in tiny cramped spaces!

nappyaddict · 29/11/2006 01:33

yeh wear something you could try something on over the top cos there are never enough changing rooms. i always end up putting things on over my clothes in the stall cos i cant be bothered to wait!!

Thank you so much nappyaddict and themoon!

We've got the fasttrack show tickets, so perhaps if we get there around 10 to 10?

Dd will just love spending her money on these clothes that she so badly needs . It sounds like real fun - I'm hoping that a nice girly day together will give me a taste of that lovely little girl I used to have!

She is so looking forward to it, which is lovely.

Your tips and info have been great - thank you!

FJ.... it is total, 100% mum/daughter bonding day. We get all loved up there, despite our rows and arguments for the rest of the year... Clothes Show mends our relationship every year. Sadly, I cannot afford to take her this year but she is going with her fashion student collegues.

And take an extra tenner to treat yourself at the champagne bar a few hours before you leave (mummy's treat).

UnderWitnessProtectionCod · 29/11/2006 22:31

god i went to this in 1991

fairyjay · 30/11/2006 08:40

After getting her phone bill this morning, I think it'll be dd trying to sweeten me up!!

Can't wait though
