As a mum with little time for shopping, I'm thinking of trying Avon. Don't klnow if there are any reps in my area but the website seems ok. I'm mainly after makeup.
Does anyone use Avon makeup - is it any good? Or am i being hopelessly old-fashioned?!

I use it, its okay but not as good as say Maybelline or Rimmel. I suppose different people have different opinions on what is good though. Some people think its okay to spend £15 on a mascara whereas I would not.

tonton · 27/11/2006 14:23

I sit less ok because it's not got such trendy/up to date products? or is the quality not there? I'm wondering becayse it does seem cheaper than those high street brands maybelline/l'oreal/no7 etc which are what I normally buy. I never spend 15 quid on a masacra!

it's fine _ I do like their money back guarantee, whereby if you don't like something you get your money back, I bought a nail varnish in the summer that I didn't like once it was on and my rep gave me my money back without a quibble!

'skin so soft' is supposed to be good as a mozzie repellent - not that useful in November I know ....

moljam · 27/11/2006 14:37

i like it,i hardly ever treat myself but there stuff is nice.saying that i prefer rimmel though !

I use it, and I've ordered PJs and slippers for 18 quid Avon are really good with offers, I have also ordered a mascara for a fiver (on offer) its good quality imo

themoon66 · 28/11/2006 11:50

I got a waterproof mascara off them the other week, but it's a waste of time. It's so thin and watery, it doesn't look as though I've put any on at all... even with three layers.

Perhaps their un-waterproof ones are better.

madmarchhare · 28/11/2006 11:53

I buy skin so soft which is great for getting all sorts of horrible things/stains out of clothes and carpets. Makes me too afraid of what is in the product to use it on my face.

I quite like their sulphate free shampoo. Loads cheaper than anything similar in Boots or Superdrug.

percheron67 · 01/10/2020 22:36

I like their products. I contacted Avon some while ago now (I have moved) and asked for a rep in my area. No one ever got back to me. I would like to see their catalogues.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 01/10/2020 22:53

Their products are ok but the other brands you mentioned are better quality, they are an MLM so will always be overpriced for what you get.

You can order make up online from so many places now there is no need to use companies that build layers of commision into their prices. Maybalien is sold on amazon and in supermarkets, superdrug also often have offers on their website. Revolution is also one that often has offers on.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/10/2020 23:18

The Avon eyeshadows are very good. I have several.
They are just as good as my Chanel, Clinique, Estée Lauder, Guerlain, Laura Geller & Max Factor eyeshadows.

BusterGonad · 02/10/2020 05:43

I can spend an obscene amount of time browsing the brochure but I've not used any of their products in years.
