Clarks Hamble Oak

Has anyone got em?

I'm hankering after a pair in dark pewter. Think they'd suit my 'slightly sexy librarian' aesthetic Grin

Are they comfy?

They are very masculine.

PamPoovey · 27/08/2015 20:14

If you wore them with Farah slacks and a pullover then, yes, Spend.

But worn with my collection of feminine tea dresses and skinny jeans and girly blouses I reckon I'll be able to pull them off Smile.

They are a lot less chunky than men's brogues. They are neat and refined, and not at all Mr Man-y.

BumgrapesofWrath · 27/08/2015 20:18

Another Hamble Oaks lover!

I've got a brown and cream pair from last year. Got lots of compliments about them!

I'm off to have a look at this year's offerings now.

Helenagrace · 27/08/2015 22:38

I bought the pewter ones at the weekend - to go with the tan, black and navy patent ones from previous years! I deeply regret not buying the green ones from last year.

I love them. So comfortable. I wear them with dresses and always get compliments when I wear them.

motherinferior · 27/08/2015 22:41

I yearn for the pewter ones but fear that I shall have to stick with my pewter broguish DMs, which admittedly rock.

They are even more masculine, of course, but as I wear a size 3 and have enormous breasts I have so far escaped any gender confusion.

RomComPhooey · 27/08/2015 22:46

Does anyone have a discount code for Clarks online purchases?

dillite · 27/08/2015 23:20

I had two pairs and both of them had the heels fall off after about 6 months. And they hurt my feet at first, but I do have elephant sized feet. I miss them now though!

WildwestWind · 28/08/2015 04:55

I've worn the black patent ones for the last two winters and they are ace. Shiny new navy ones are in the cupboard ready for autumn, can't wait!

Passthecake30 · 28/08/2015 07:51

Another lover of them here, I wear orthotics and they hold them nicely in place.

I also have a pair of clarks brogues with a buckle on from a couple of years back, same structure, just a different fastening.

Hmmm maybe I need patent ones too...

hiccupgirl · 28/08/2015 07:58

I've got the mushroom coloured ones from 2 or 3 years ago and I wear them so much for work. I've also got the teal coloured suede brogues they did last winter which are comfy and look good too. I wear them with pretty much anything when I'm not wearing boots in the winter and all the time the rest of the year.

The pewter or the marron and biege ones are very tempting.

Lottapianos · 28/08/2015 09:24

'If you wore them with Farah slacks and a pullover then, yes, Spend'

Grin OK, that's my Autumn look sorted!

I love a slightly masculine shoe with a floral print dress or a pencil skirt or whatever, I like the contrast

I have a tan pair and they are very comfy indeed, almost as comfy as trainers. The pewter pair are stunning, but I already have a pair of silver loafers so I don't need them

motherinferior · 28/08/2015 11:59

I love a Bloke Shoe.

mewkins · 28/08/2015 13:05

I would love Farah slacks.
Anyway I have tan ones from a few years ago that still look good. Btw, the price has gone up by a whole 20 quid since I bought them. Ludicrous.

BertrandRussell · 28/08/2015 13:06

I think of them as Nun Shoes.

cashewnutty · 28/08/2015 13:10

I have just hoisted myself out my chair to go and peer at a pair of Clarks brogues i have had in my wardrobe for a while. It would seem i have a pair of Hamble Oak brogues, maroon colour, brand new, half price in a sale last year! I have never worn them as i had no idea what to wear them with. Now i have lots of ideas. Thank you all!

BikeRunSki · 28/08/2015 13:36

Pewter ones have just arrived. I loooooove them.

LoveVintage · 28/08/2015 17:17

Fab cashew that's you sorted!

AngelicaDelight · 28/08/2015 17:20

How do you wear them? With a dress and tights? Don't they look a bit incongruous? I would love to try them but fear I would look like a golf club...

AngelicaDelight · 28/08/2015 17:24

You don't wear socks with them? See I wouldn't ever have thought not to wear socks with them... I fear I am too old to be hip.

RomComPhooey · 28/08/2015 18:00

Just waiting for a text letting me know my pewter ones have arrived in store.

blodynmawr · 28/08/2015 19:43

Now I want a pair! Grin
Any Clarks codes around?

Lottapianos · 01/09/2015 13:53

How do you wear them?

Dress and tights
Pencil skirt and tights
Skinny trousers / jeans and socks, either statement or plain
With those invisible sock liner things on crap days in the summer

DonkeyOaty · 01/09/2015 14:21

I have cankles so a no with dresses from me. The pewter ones are mmmmhmmmm though. Hmmmmmm.

TreacleFiend · 01/09/2015 15:23

I'm also thinking of buying the pewter ones but being a clumsy oaf, am worried about how I'll deal with scuffed toes!

Any ideas? I'm sure Clarks (or elsewhere) will have a suitably coloured polish but I'm thinking that once the metallic finish gets scuffed, that's it gone forever? Sad
