I'm looking for a specific sort of cardigan but I'm not sure what it's called or how to search for it

It's a cardigan, but very very lightweight. Not wool. Sort of... stretchy fine knit... but not tshirt material either. So fine and lightweight it's a bit see-through. And it's long - covers my bum - amost to the back of my knees. And very drapey at the front, and cut-away. And a bit batwing perhaps? And very shapeless and sloppy.

I need to get 2 or 3 in various colours (I really want a bright orange one).

I did buy a poo brown one from H&M that I loved but it got a hole in it quite quickly.

But I'm shopping online and wading through endless button-up cardies. What should I be looking for?

Think it sounds like a waterfall cardigan

cathyandclaire · 25/08/2015 16:45

Yep, sounds like a waterfall to me

Wrap? Waterfall cardigan? Fine knit cardigan?
Good luck!

Another vote for waterfall cardigan

SharingMichelle · 25/08/2015 16:47

Waterfall eh? Could be. I'll try.

Is there another special word I can use to make it thin and not woolly and warm?

Fine knit, waterfall cardigan?

PoppyBlossom · 25/08/2015 16:52

Hmm the batwing makes me think of a knit kimono

HerRoyalNotness · 25/08/2015 16:54

I think I got one from hush exactly what you're askingin summer. I love it so much. No idea how they labeled it.

No help at all

HerRoyalNotness · 25/08/2015 16:58

Try cocoon cardigan, i think that is the style closest to what I mean, def not waterfall as that has the extra fabric flopping around

bluesky · 25/08/2015 17:00

Here's a waterfall one from the white company, pricey but wondered if this is the type you mean?

I've got some similar ones in a fine linen yarn - East IIRC - search on "linen cardigan" might bring some up?

Tesco have some long cardis in atm, lovely peachy shell pink one with a sheer panel across the shoulders

I think is IS a cocoon cardi. Less flappy at the front than waterfall. Although some of the waterfalls are not too flappy - and there seem to be more waterfalls around.

Thank you for all the links and suggestions.

bluesky - yes, almost like the white company one, but baggier and longer and sloppier and less warm. And more bat-wingy. Same goes for the phase eight ones.

RaisingSteam - I love the shape of the orange one! Not quite the right orange for me though.

I think this is about the right shape. And it's called a cocoon. Hard to tell in black.

I need them for work - I have to be covered up, but it's quite warm, so fine, loose and floaty are the way forward. And they bung on top of dresses and skirts and everything.
