What would you wear to the cricket (Ashes, the Oval)

Please help inspire me!

I've got a last minute invite to the cricket tomorrow (the Ashes, at the Oval) as a corporate event and I have no idea what to wear. I'm a first timer...

I am 40, size 8, blonde, in reasonable nick. Loads of clothes, but of course nothing to wear.

Any ideas gratefully received! Too late to shop, I know, but I'm hoping some inspiration will help me cobble something together from my existing wardrobe.

Thank you v much

Cricket is not usually a dressing up event. But if it's corporate entertainment, then I don't know, that's tricky. I would wear a nice casual summer wrap around dress you can wear with a jacket or nice cardigan, and flat shoes (for all that standing around drinking and eating that you will be doing)

Jeans. Take a blanket, it's chilly sitting down for any more than an hour.

Plus hat/suncream. No one dresses up, even in the corporate bits you look like a twonk in a wedding suit.

Thanks Majestic - that's the sort of thing I was thinking. Or a shirt dress (I've got quite a nice tailored one, but cotton - so smart but not over-dressed) that I can put a further layer onto. It's the corporate part that's tricky. I'm assuming all the men will go down the same beige chinos, light blue shirt thing they always seem to opt for.....

I disagree with Jeff - often there are dress codes. It's not just a bought ticket in the main stand.

Wots her puss? Liz Hurley?

Wears white jeans every time in the corporate bit.

CleanBowled · 20/08/2015 15:43

Thanks all. I've just checked the invitation and it says "Smart casual; jeans and trainers not permitted".

I always struggle with smart casual at work events - I think I will play it safe with a non-fussy day dress and a layer

layers essential, not too dressy.

Have fun!

Thank you Boosiehs!

i would do trousers - cold legs otherwise

Layers.

One lady sitting by us at Edgbaston was a corporate guest, but with outside seats. She looked very smart in her business skirt etc......but way out of place!
