strapless/backless bra?

Dress I think I am weraing for Xmas party is halterneck with a low back.
Any suggestions for bras?

You could try the stick-on sort, like these or these (and a few more options along the same lines here ).

Do you think that the body version would hold my stomach in?

I'd guess it would a bit, but not as much as one with a back would, but it should still smooth things out a bit, iyswim.

Its expensive though, but think I would be able to wear it more than just with this dress .

Dress will hide most bulges but smoothing would help!

You can get adjuster straps from Bravissimo that pull the back right down and out of sight.
