What kind of cover up should wedding guest wear over dress?

I'm planning on wearing a navy dress with white detailing at the waist and cut out type flowery pattern at the bottom. The dress is slightly above my knee and I am wearing it with blush/nude shoes mid heels and a pastel/navy/cream small bag.

I am at a complete loss what to wear with it, I feel a navy jacket may be too dark for a wedding. Please help!

I would just buy a lovely cream cashmere cardigan from Pure or John Lewis. It will look luxurious and can be worn again. Pure also do amazing cashmere wraps - they are expensive but can be worn many times again

Thanks Oly, I think that's a good idea, the wraps sound amazing too! I think if I can wear something again I'm not so bothered about spending a little more.

Why not rethink dress. It sounds suitable for a hot day. The forecast ain't hot

^^how on earth do you know what the forecast is for a wedding when we haven't been told the date or location?. Confused

MaryBerrysEyelashes · 18/08/2015 13:15

If it's in the UK. You're screwed

I'm using a dress I already have (don't really have money to buy another just for that occasion) and actually it has been quite mild recently so I'd quite like layers so I'm not boiling hot if the weather is nice. Not sure what it's going to be like yet so I think it's wise to have something if it is a bit colder.

mary not necessarily - I was at a wedding 3 weeks ago and it was a gloriously sunny day, too hot for anything but a dress? Not sure how you're helping with answering the OP's question really.

A cream/white 3/4 length sleeve blazer might go quite nicely with that dress.

Or a contrasting colour? I love coral with navy. Lots of nice coral jackets about at the moment.
