Nursing Bras

I'm trying to get everything sorted before baby arrives, and am trying to find a nice nursing bra. Trouble is, I'm a 34J and can't find a nice bra that won't come up to my chin. I've tried M&S and the largest they do is a G which isn't big enough - I've just spent 2 hours searchin on the internet, but can only find hideous old lady style bras in my size.

Has anyone found a nice plus size nursing bra?

Please help...

I wore Royce ones ,and I was an h cup,not very pretty though, but comfy.

Have you tried bravissimo?

there's these but they only seem to do normal bra's in the larger sizes - might be worht an email to them thou

Fab, thanks...

From experience, how essential are nursing bras? Could I get away with wearing a normal bra?

they do a 36J. most important thing I found with bra's and BF was to have a proper fitted one, as i'm sure that's part of the reason I got an infection - a poorly fitted bra which dug in anyhow 36J

if u plan on BF then nursing ones are a must have - least they have been for me. do mothercare not do larger ones? try just buying one and if it works out then get a couple more, if not then you've not wasted lots of money iycwim.

Eek, I was conned into getting one of those ones with a zip and it wasn't good with my vast and droopy norks

Suggest this page from Bravissimo instead.

LMAO at lio! I haven't tried a zippy one, but deffo recommend a nursing bra of sorts

TrixieVix · 24/11/2006 21:31

Thanks girls - just ordered the Anita one from Bravissimo as it's not as trussed up to your chin as most appear to be

They do large sizes on nursingbra.co.uk although I haven't tried them. They don't all look too matronly to me, but then maybe I'm too used to wearing nursing bras by now

I think a good nursing bra is essential until you're skilled in the whole breastfeeding lark. I hated my M&S and Mothercare ones. I wish I'd never shelled out all that money on them now. I found the nicest ones on the internet.

Have you thought of trying a bra with a larger band size and smaller cup size?? I read in a magazine (I think it was Which?) that several different size bras are actually made from the same front part, but with different lengths of fastener attached. I'm not explaining this very well...
but basically I think that 34J would be equivalent to 36H and 38G, so that might give you more options? I've tried this trick myself but the other way round, buying a bra with a lower band size and larger cup size than normal and it still fitted really well.
