Classy Outfit for Work Do!!!!

Twinkie1 · 23/11/2006 20:48

Right girls I need some suggestions - a classy outfit to wear to a work commitment in the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, lady I am going with is wearing Armani - when the nearest I get is Primani what can I do - have at most £100 to spend on a sedate dress - would prefer black as have shoes to match but may be able to squeeze the plastic if I have to!!!

And that is your mission for tonight - now I have to go and make DHs lunch as he is out at a work do in London and is probably pissed already so deffo won;t do it himself when he gets in!!!!

This is my find of the moment ! Looks much better on. Knee length on me (I'm 5'7"). Demure but still sexy. It is purple (think Cadbury wrapper) but it is gorgeous.

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 20:53

I'll look for somthing else in balck. What shape are you (to give us an idea of what would suit your bodyshape)

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 20:55

NomDePlume's dress is gorgeous. What shape/size are you, Twinkie? Best bits? Bits you hate and have to hide?

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 20:56

If you are small in the nork department, and confident about your arms, this is sedate, but elegant.

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 20:57

Maybe?

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 20:59

This could give you bra issues but it may be a better shape for your figure

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 21:00

Like those NdP - especially the first one. Is something like this not sedate enough?

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:02

Bargain LBD

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 21:02

This one looks good too . Also this one .
And another one .

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:06

Black silk

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:08

There is a dress on the Monsoon website called SANDY Black dress (also comes in red), it's £90. I can't link to flippin monsoon site though...

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:10

Or the MONICA black dress

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:10

Sorry, it's MONICA Silk dress

MrsBadger · 23/11/2006 21:52

this one? very nice!
this one's sedate and pretty too.

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:54

Mrs B that first one is the Sandy I mentioned further down

MrsBadger · 23/11/2006 21:56

aha have found the Monica too - actually they're all nice!

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:58

Don't like the tie bit on that second one. Looks a bit sacklike. I do think that the best thing to stick with if your budget is a fraction of your dinner companions is simple, sharp, structured/tailored styles. The fussier, the cheaper generally (imo).

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 21:59

The cheaper looking when compared to the more £££££ designer gubbins

MrsBadger · 23/11/2006 22:05

hmm, you're probably right - I'm out of my depth here as Monsoon is the most expensive end of my dress experience...

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 22:33

But where's the op gone? Come back Twinkie.

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 09:44

Twink, have we horrified you with our options ?!

Twinkie1 · 25/11/2006 18:23
