my friend is having her 3 month old daughter christened next sunday and am stuck for what to wear. am on mat leave so have NO money for new outfit and was wondering if I could get away with wearing a black trouser suit from Next to it? Was thinking could wear a nice top underneath but afraid I will look like I should be at a funreal. help please!

not ideal but i think you can just about do it with bright top and accessories - do you have a coloured wrap to go around the jacket for the church?

TheHighwayCod · 23/11/2006 18:14

oh dgod tis fine
just wear the trousers maybe

twelveyeargap · 23/11/2006 18:22

Don't see why not. My friend is never out of black clothes and wore a black suit with red accessories to her own son's baptism.

TheHighwayCod · 23/11/2006 18:23

we had VERY casual dress at ours
jeans and so on

scatterbrain · 23/11/2006 18:25

Sounds very smart and very appropriate to me !

Maybe lighten it up with a pretty scarf or something - but sounds fine to me. I wore black dress to my dd's christening and my best friend wore a purple velvet trousersuit to her youngests.

Don't worry you'll look fab - just enjoy yourself !

Gingerbear · 23/11/2006 18:34

casual dress at DD's christening. It was lovely as the priest who did the ceremony is DH's best friend's brother. It was more like a family party.
You will be fine with the suit.
Don't wear a hat.
