**BIG NORKERS** Report back on the Warehouse dress (NDP)

It arrived this morning. I've tried it on and it looks fab. The neck hole is a wide enough slash to balances out the high neckline. It is purple, it looked inky blue on my laptop screen, in fact it is like the colour of the Cadbury's choccie wrappers. The silk is really delicate but the fit isn't skin tight so the lumps and bumps are flowed over rather than clung to.

All I have to do now is find the shoes....

Thanks btw to Jackie who pointed out loads of shoes on my other thread. Having seen the dress in the flesh none of those linked to were quite right

thes in red - she has heavy ankles so they look FAB on her

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 12:07

back later, off for lunch

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 12:08

lol @ she has heavy ankles. She'll thank you for that one

They are nice but I think a bit too shiny for me and would make look a bit clod-hoppy

TheHighwayCod · 23/11/2006 12:09

yes but hey are great for jeans
they were featured in the sunday times too

JackieNo · 23/11/2006 12:11

How about these top ones in pewter (or silver further down)? And the Wyatt ones further down are fab too.

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 15:36

They are quite nice, Jackie

I've been considering this dress for DH's works party for ages!! It's really lovely.

Would you say it would look ok with a muffin top tummy?
Im 5ft 1" , size 10,32G bra size but after shifting 5 stone, still have a horrible saggy tummy, and I was worried it would cling to it as it's silk?

NomDePlume · 23/11/2006 18:41

Wisp I'll be wearing it with magic pants to control any rogue rolls . The waist sash/belt thing is wide and is good for pulling in/controlling the bulge and defining your waist.

The only thing I'd be concerned about on a person of 5'1" is the length. It is knee length on me and I'm six inches taller than you. Not sure the fit would work on someone as petite as you.

As I said, the fit is fitted but not skin tight so the silk skims rather than clings (which is a blessing as far as I'm concerned )

Thanks very much for that NDP,You have answered my questions- it would definately not look as good on a shorty, as it would finish between the ankles and the lower leg.
I'll keep searching then !

JackieNo · 24/11/2006 12:34

NDP - found these shoes in a sale that reminded me of your quest for something to go with your dress. Only available in a size 39 (that's a 6, I reckon) though.

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 15:40

I was looking at those Jackie, couldn't decide whether or not I like them. I think I do and I may be able to fit a 6. I'm a 5 - 5.5 usually but if the toes are extra tapered then I may get away with the 6

nioe
they look like a reception art project

TheHighwayCod · 24/11/2006 15:40

no

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 16:40

I'm a bit of a shoe fiend but I'm really struggling to find any that I like, never mind any that are within my price range

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 16:41

(even looking at £££££ shoes, I can't see anything that I fancy)

Have you looked at schuh?
Theres some nice high heels there, The SCHUH BIBA ASYMMETRICAL COURT would be nice?
Sorry it wont let me link to the page with the shoes on.

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 17:01

what about these ? What do we think ?

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 17:02

I've looked at Schuh but nothing leapt out at me despite there being a gazillion pages of the blardy things.... I'll have another look and see if i can find the Biba ones. Thanks

They are on page 2
I quite like those ones you have linked, not sure if the colour will look good with the dress though....

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 17:07

They are the best thing I can find so far and I've looked EVERYWHERE

Faith
Office
Schuh
Shellys
VivaLaDiva
French Connection
Debenhams
Topshop
Oasis
Dorothy Perkins

and others.

I think the silver and gemstones would look good with a light tan. I think silver tones would look MUCH better than gold tones with the dress (and my skintone)

OP posts:
Wisp · 24/11/2006 17:15

Wow you have been looking!!

I agree that they would look fab on tanned legs, and sparkly when you move too!
If you have searched that hard, get them before you change your mind!

NomDePlume · 24/11/2006 17:17

DH keeps sighing "NDP are you still looking at shoes?" in an exasperated fashion
