What is a sensible number of pairs of knickers for an adult female to own?

I have a terrible habit of buying new knickers when the old ones get faded and worn...but then keeping the old ones 'just in case' .

I need to have a clear out, but I'm wondering just how ruthless I should be!

And strangely enough I am a ruthless declutterer of absolutely everything except underwear. It is my blind spot, clearly.

Throw away any that are way past their best. I wouldn't aim for a number, I'd aim for an underwear drawer with nothing that looks old/on its last legs.

My DH counted mine a few months ago as he told me I had too many - it came to 92!! I've since had a cull although thinking about it I bought some new ones last week and haven't chucked out the old ones!

Well, how often do you do the washing? I do each type of wash (whites, darks etc) at least once a week so I'd say 10 pairs of everyday knickers would be more than enough. Plus maybe a couple of posher pairs if you make that distinction?

I have 8 everyday ones (washing once a week) plus 6 period pants (with a leakproof lining) plus 4 nice ones that are um...more for my dps benefit. Oh and a pair of suck me in pants.

Well day to day pants you need as many to last you from wash to wash. So maybe 7 with 2 or 3 spare.

then you might have specialist pants - hold you in types or no vpl types that only get worn with specific outfits. maybe sexy pants that you find too annoying or delicate for day to day use.

faded and worn pants. Well do you need any for wearing at night during periods or wearing during periods generally? Some people have 'period pants'. Keep as many as you need for this. or the faded worn pants might be the 2 or 3 spare day to day pants.

Any pants you have that fall out of these categories need to be binned.

I have two types, everyday and sexy ones. Prob 20 of each ( and some that don't fit any more but I live in hope!)

I'd want enough every day ones for a two week holiday. Plus a couple of extras and two 'nice' pairs too.
