Are they any good ? Will anyone admit to wearing a big pair of 'controlling' pants and do they make you look fab ? Any particular brands I should go for ? My legs are fine btw, it's just my stomach really...

Thanks

Magic knickers and ask people at the meet-up if they worked for me

hunkermunker · 22/11/2006 09:21

Actually...don't - what if they said "Oh, fattie Hunker? No, she looked like shit"

chickeninabox · 22/11/2006 09:22

hhmm I won't invite comments then. Magic knickers eh ? Are they M & S ?

i got a 'Body' for my wedding day and loved it so much i wore it everytime i went out. it is basically a big pair of pants that come up to just below your boobs and they are made out of tights material. v. comfie. there are lots of brands now. i got mine in an old fashioned underwear 'boutique' that let me try them on first.

hunkermunker · 22/11/2006 09:23

You can get them in M&S, yes. That's where I got mine (bit pricey though - I had some vouchers luckily!)

LadyOfThePoinsettias · 22/11/2006 09:26

i got a body for my wedding too. it cost £40 from m&s.
it kind of evenly spreads the soft bits around so you dont have lumps and bumps. it rounds off my baby pod that usually hangs, pulling it up a bit.
i always get the thing on (nightmare!) then stuff a hand down it and 'arrange' myself! lol
looks quite good then.
also nice to wear in this cold weather!

NomDePlume · 22/11/2006 09:27

Magic pants are the absolute, no question No1 item for post-childbirth wobble control. They are fab. I got mine from M&S, they weren't that expensive, about £12 or £14 I think. I have the cycling shorts ones, they give a much better line under clothes ime

chickeninabox · 22/11/2006 09:27

Do you wear normal pants underneath ? What about going to the toilet - it must take ages.

not much fun to pour yourself into though, admittedly

Enid · 22/11/2006 09:28

I have Spanx - I like them and they deffo work but are uncomfortable

pesme · 22/11/2006 09:28

oh, and mine had bum shaping as well but there was a thong option, which i thought was weird.

Enid · 22/11/2006 09:29

I wear normal pants underneath to, er, eke out the life of the Spanx IYSWIM

NomDePlume · 22/11/2006 09:29

I don't wear pants underneath them, no.

pesme · 22/11/2006 09:29

going to teh loo is a kerfuffle esp if you are wearing tights on top and a skirt. maybe they should supply matching catheters!

NomDePlume · 22/11/2006 09:30

I only wear mine on nights out, so about once every 8 weeks and I wash them after every wear (obv)

marthamoo · 22/11/2006 09:31

I bought a pair of the M&S waist cincher magic pants - and they did make my party dress look smoother and my stomach flatter...but I took them back anyway. I couldn't breathe! I wanted to eat, I wanted to dance, and I didn't want to spend half an hour in the loo every time I went getting the damn things on and off Sod it, I'm almost 40, I have two children - I am not meant to have a totally flat stomach.

Azure · 22/11/2006 09:34

I need to get something before my firm's Christmas party next week. Does anyone know whether you get magic pant tights, i.e. tights with a control top that you don't have to wear pants underneath? I'm worried about the ridge around the waist that tights often make. I don't want to wear stockings.

BellaLasagne · 22/11/2006 09:40

M&S used to do body control tights (and I suppose they still do?) that are exactly as you describe Azure, they have a nice cool cotton gusset and fairly heavy duty control top that hoiks it all in

Enid · 22/11/2006 09:56

m and s do bodyshaper ones

Azure · 22/11/2006 10:20

Thanks, I'll try that.

NappiesGalore · 22/11/2006 13:49

HM - i was at the meetup and i asked people about 5 times if you were there (b/c i wanted to meet you) but to no avail. now i know why! the magic pants made you so thin you were invisible!!

the celebs use Spanx, im told. they do maternity too. mamaspanx. quite good for spd i found

ordered them from figleaves but they took an age to come
