Kimono style top / sparkly knitwear question

I got this top from Matalan, with a narrow body and loose elbow length sleeves. I bought it before I had time to get over my shock at how mice it looked, but now I have recovered I find that it is definitely Sparkly Knitwear and I would probably like something more everyday.

Have you seen this style in a plain colour (ok, in black) anywhere else? I have tried to find it on the Matalan site but doesn't seem to be on there, it is a sparkly purple colour or they also have it in black and gold. Sounds vile but really the shape is fab, especially on no waisted skinny armed types, apparently

LOL at SK

TheHighwayCod · 21/11/2006 20:44

i grant you expemtion fomr t eh SK curse

FrannyandZooey · 21/11/2006 20:49

Is it ever acceptable to wear SK? This is such a fab top, even the fact that it is sparkly and purple cannot put me off it

Failing that please find me another one without the taint of SK

Anniemac that's what I want to know.....could I???

This is not the sort with the wrap / tie around the middle, it is just straight up and down and fitted along the body, but the sleeves are roughly elbow length and wide - I thought it was a sort of bat wing thing to begin with. But it calls itself kimono style.

If it was black SK I wouldn't give a hoot about wearing it anywhere - but purple...?

Don't strain yourself please MrsB we will be needing you a lot in the run up to Christmas I am sure

have you tried topshop? They have lots of knitted tops with balloon type sleeves. Oasis have empire line tops with wide sleeves but not knitwear that I can recall.

I think if you remember SK from the first time round hmm. But its very IN with all the young people!! (God I sound like my Granny)
I would wear it with jeans?

Does purple lurex= spandex?

TheHighwayCod · 22/11/2006 08:13

LOL at sk being used so freely

MrsBadger · 22/11/2006 08:21

am I on the right track?

MrsBadger · 22/11/2006 08:22

oh, and spandex is lycra (ie stretchy)
lurex is the glittery one (such a terrible word, like lurid)

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2006 08:28

Ooh yes MrsB that looks very promising

will look again later, must dash

Annie I was hoping with boyf jeans I could pull it off but thought I may be deluding myself

update: went past Topshop on way home and happened to see it so popped in to ogle.
colour is lush - real indigo blue, much purpler than online pic.

TheHighwayCod · 22/11/2006 18:36

on tha pic i can see her fanjo

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2006 18:43

cod I think it is a mannequin

MrsB are you sure? I thought it was black when I looked this morning, it would have to be a very fab blue indeed for me to get it

am toying with the idea of keeping the purple lurex spandex SK number

talk me out of it somebody

FZ - I wear a gold fitted v-neck sparkly jumper for every day. I wear it with cropped jeans and my brown suede knee high boots and a nice necklace.

I think it looks fine for daytime. Better than boring black or a scraggy old t-shirt.

TheHighwayCod · 22/11/2006 18:52

yes bit ooh la la
she doenst mind showitng thing s off

gg linkt o sparkly knitewear

MrsBadger · 22/11/2006 18:57

Franny, wear the purple one - no-one will bat an eyelid and you will look splendid.
Lurex for daytime is very now - you will look cool and up-to-the-minute.

(One of the students in the lab has a delicious chunky cream jumper with gold flecks and it was all I could do to maintain my professional demeanour and not coo and fawn over it.
Am planning to buy one just like it once she has finished her project and left. [rubs hands in evil glee])

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2006 19:01

Oh good how marvellous, you mean I can wear sparkly stuff all day and people will think I am trendy?

why did no-one tell me this when I was agonising over sparkly tweedy crop trousers last month?

OP posts:
TheHighwayCod · 22/11/2006 19:43

i have a sparlky grandad shirt ( gap) and a psrkaly scarf (tow)

TheHighwayCod · 22/11/2006 19:45

mrsnoah · 22/11/2006 19:59

What about sparkly on the face? Is that back in too yet?
