So I picked up a can today in "Tan Glow". I have olive skin but want to disguise my veins. Is this colour right for me? It's one down from the darkest.

What do you use on the other areas that need tanning, so you don't end up with that weird tanned legs/pale everywhere else look? can this be used everywhere, do you think?

Postchildrenpregranny · 22/07/2015 18:42

Try Dove Moisturizer with fake tan . I'm very fair and it works for me . My legs are practically the same colour as my naturally 'tanned' golden brown arms
Not sure it would cover veins though. I use about three applications one on top of the other before I soak it off in the bath (it stays on in shower as long as I don't rub legs dry) and start again. Its the only thing I've found that looks remotely natural on me Doesnt come off on sheets

This product is possibly the best invention in the world, ever. I am including electricity and the wheel in this!
Grin - love it when I hear that!
Out to buy some. Baaaaaaaa!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 22/07/2015 19:03

Orange legs here :(

Looked the business the next day though! Grin

blibblibs · 22/07/2015 19:21

Its wonderful stuff and yeah I just use it everywhere.

ReluctantTraveller · 23/07/2015 10:51

May have to try this again with the tanning mitt approach, I tried it recently for a wedding and was horrified at the "you've been tangoed" result! And this was over a few layers of gradual St Tropez!

Its lurked in a drawer since and I've used the fake bake wash off one instead which I think is fab for pale skin (takes me from bluish skimmed milk to just pale in one application and you can easily build more layers). I mix it with a bit of moisturiser to help it spread better and find it doesn't streak that way.

Annarose2014 · 23/07/2015 10:59

There is/was a shade called "Nude Glow" which is good for pale legs. However I heard it was discontinued.

I don't know if its true or not but a couple of years ago I found some cans in a pharmacy and bought two and am hoarding them!

I use the "Light Glow" when I want to look a bit tanned but would have to do my arms too so I match.

It does cover up veins - the best/least messy way is to spray it directly onto the mitt and swipe on. You can layer it really well. I wore it at the weekend and someone said "Careful you don't snag your tights" - they couldn't believe that I wasn't wearing any! And I've got varicose veins!

I bought a mitt for 99p in Home Bargains today but haven't got round to using it yet. I hope the mitt doesn't soak up too much !

Well, when i tried it my legs were bright orange - I felt so embarrassed that I had to wash it off. Maybe I had the wrong colour!!Ive just checked the can and it is medium glow. Was also a bit streaky. As its getting lots of praise maybe I should give it another go. I didn't think it looked very natural.

sonata1 · 24/07/2015 23:25

Tan glow has hardly made any difference to my legs so I will need to get the darkest one.

Does it have a fake tan smell?

mrsdavidbowie · 25/07/2015 08:04

I was bright orange with it too

learntoloveagain · 25/07/2015 08:11

I use the lotion one and just use my hands. It really is like foundation for legs.

Truckingalong · 25/07/2015 08:18

It has a bit of a smell, yes.

MsJuniper · 25/07/2015 11:38

I usually get more tanned on my face and arms just from being outside in the summer so using the SHAL makes my legs match more rather than making them look darker than elsewhere.

JimJamYaHa · 27/07/2015 08:53

I went out and bought this today after reading this thread. I am of the white/blue/go blotchy purple when it's cold/dead body type pale. I had given up on fake tans years ago as I couldn't be bothered with the whole process and I always inevitably ended up with streaks and blotchy knees, elbows and ankles and wrists. My shins didn't seem to pick up anybcolour at all. Anyway, this stuff is something else entirely! I am so impressed! Let me see if I can attach a photo to show you...the purpose off this for me is not to look super tanned, but just to look less like a corpse Wink

That looks good!

JimJamYaHa · 27/07/2015 09:12

Yeah thanks Bowie, I am so impressed and will definitely be using this again for legs out occasions! But it's $29 a can here in Australia so I hope the can lasts a while.

MsBojangles · 27/07/2015 13:56

That looks amazing, JimJam!

What colour did you use?

JimJamYaHa · 28/07/2015 03:38

I used the medium glow one. It was the lightest they had.

MsBojangles · 28/07/2015 13:57

Oh good, I have a bottle of that stashed somewhere!

ChoclolateOrange · 28/07/2015 18:21

I love this too!

I have skin that goes a pretty good colour but after a week in the Canaries the medium still looks a bit darker than the rest of me. On the second day of wearing it looks much better. It covers my disgusting thread veins beautifully and definitely doesnt come off in the shower unless I scrub at it.

Dukketeater · 28/07/2015 18:44

I used to use the can but found the tube one better value. Like the others I put it on with a mitt and I wear it all over sometimes. I'm not pale but often have battered and bruised legs thanks to my toddler. It doesn't come off with sweat, only when you soap it off.

daftyburd · 28/07/2015 19:39

Will need to try it with a mitt. I tried spraying it on and had legs the colour of caramels.

Libitina · 28/07/2015 20:52

As another poster who is blue pale, I swear by this Rimmel tan. I apply t with a mitt. It makes my legs look a great, pale golden colour.
