I've found myself husband-less for the evening, the kids are in bed and I'm at a bit of a loose end.

I was about to do my weekly touch up of the legs epilator session and figured I'd like to epilate the fanj.

will I cry? Grin

Have we really reached a stage where women are uncomfortable with any sort of body hair? That's a bit sad tbh.

Fatstacks · 10/07/2015 07:59

Haven't you got a telly?

thatsshallot · 10/07/2015 08:38

I've spent the whole walk to work singing

scaramoosh scaramoosh will you epilate my fanjo (to tune of Bohemian Rhapsody) based on the title of this thread

leaves quietly shuts door behind self

HellonHeels · 10/07/2015 08:46

I've always disliked my body hair and that is nothing to do with societal expectations, pornification of our culture etc. I just hated how it felt instead of my previously smooth skin. I don't remove it all but prefer having a lot less of it.

I have no objection to anyone else's hair, just mine.

HellonHeels · 10/07/2015 08:46

Arf at Bohemian rhapsody Grin

RavioliOnToast · 10/07/2015 09:05

Sansarya please feel free to have a massive bush and I will not judge, I merely dislike my own body hair, I get a hairy arse crack and hate the way it tickles when I walk. I hate the way that when I previously had a hairy undercarriage, I would sometimes pull hair out with the loo roll. I apologise if this offends you...

Best friend at school tried. Warned me very sincerely not to ever attempt it.

"By the way, don't ever try to use a silk-epil on your bikini line. Ever."

Tone of voice told me all I needed to know.

flanjabelle · 10/07/2015 11:05

Good God woman no. At least a wax is quick, epilation is drawn out torture. Get thee to a salon and have it waxed if you don't want hair there. Bloody hell.

Kerberos · 10/07/2015 11:45

Yeah I do - but more of a bikini line tidy up. Even I probably wouldn't wave the epilator round anywhere with pinchy skin... Watch out, you do run a risk of ingrowing hairs though!

Kerberos · 10/07/2015 11:47

And it's not for the menz or for the pornification - it's for the pool and fear of escaping spider legs...

FadedRed · 10/07/2015 11:52

Made my eyes water just reading the title..............
Now have Bohemian Rhapsody ear-worm, thank you for that Thatsshallot. Grin

Trambuctious · 10/07/2015 11:56

This is madness. I actually think it's quite dodgy for men to like this (does your husband really? Do you really?) Hairlessness is what some men like in little girls.

Aussiemum78 · 10/07/2015 12:15

Laser.

I've thrown out my epilator and all the associated bumps and ingrowns and wasted hours.

Nearly no hair anywhere now!

MimsyBorogroves · 10/07/2015 12:21

Christ. I'm with the "sit down with a lovely book" crowd.

RavioliOnToast · 10/07/2015 12:22

Trambuctious what a peculiar thing to say. I highly doubt that a full grown woman being hair free of her own accord, for personal hygiene preferences, and paedophilia are linked. what an odd thing to think Hmm

OP posts:
JackShit · 10/07/2015 12:25

Oh fgs the 'hygiene' argument again Hmm

It is not dirty to have pubic hair and it's pretty ill informed to think so.

Trambuctious · 10/07/2015 13:02

How many women epilate for personal hygiene reasons? Rubbish. I'd put good money on almost all women epilating because of societal pressures, primarily from men, though as always women then start pressurising other women and themselves as it becomes seen as the norm.
Why can't women insist on being left alone as men are able to do? We don't insist that they need to pull out all the hairs on their bodies. And they have a hell of a lot more of it.

Nolim · 10/07/2015 13:10

Aussiemum i have been considering laser but it is expensive! Which one do you have?

Bunbaker · 10/07/2015 13:23

"Oh fgs the 'hygiene' argument again hmm

Do what you want, but the hygiene argument just isn't true. People have evolved to have hair on certain parts of their body for protective reasons - eyelashes and nose hair to trap dirt, head hair for warmth, eyebrows catch sweat, pubic hair to reduce friction and keep dirt from entering the vagina and armpit hair to reduce friction.

RavioliOnToast · 10/07/2015 14:13

I am aware of the evolutionary reasons behind public hair, I am not an idiot. for me personally I prefer no hair. good lord, what is wrong with you women, I have every right to remove my pubes as you lot have to keep them, I had a hairy fanny in pregnancy cause I couldn't see where i was shaving, I did this long before I ket my husband so this is not about his preferences at all.

shit the bed, you wouldn't think women could actually have a mind of their own, without being pressured by women themselves whether pubes are right or wrong.

Nolim I think most opt for a lumia, AFAIK Grin

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 10/07/2015 14:40

There have been numerous articles in the press with comments from dermos and gynaecologists who both say that it's more hygienic to have hair. It serves a purpose. Removing it can exacerbate skin conditions, you don't have any hair to trap the sweat, and your parts are more vulnerable.

Personally, I think there is something a bit dodgy about grown women who want to look like they did pre-puberty,who find signs of their sexuality disturbing in some way. I don't know how you can feel hair in your bum crack, to be honest.

But- each to their own.

alongcamespiders · 10/07/2015 19:41

I love the Bohemian Rhapsody rewrite.

I epilate bikini line and either shave or immac the entire undercarriage. Not all the time cos it's a pita (or pitf), some times I like to embrace my inner hippy chick and let everything grow free and wild including underarms and legs.
I have been tempted to epilate underneath but I am not that much of a masochist.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/07/2015 19:43

Not after the terrible flap caught in the roller incident.

CainInThePunting · 10/07/2015 19:51

Jesus!
I happily epilate my legs but not sure I'd go near my fanjo with it!

Are we talking pubic bone area or God forbid outer labia??

Be very careful. Keep skin very taught don't for christs sake let the pincers near the skin.

I just wax there if need be.

Just realised on proof reading that my post is littered with blasphemy, apologies to any religious persons.
