Is £39.99 a lot of money for a pair of jeans?

Don't normally spend so much, but fell in love with pair of black sparkly jeans in River Island. Now having guilt pangs, but I can wear them to Xmas do - and cheaper than a dress. Reassure me please?

not if you're going to wear them a lot eg cost per wear, or not if you're loaded.

I think how many days pay something costs, then how much I'm going to wear it...then I buy it anyway

if it were for your daughter who would grow out of it or grow sick of it in 5 minutes I'd say it's a lot of money, but if you find a pair of jeans that make you look & feel good buy 'em

belgo · 18/11/2006 13:55

That's not expensive, unless you only wear them once.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 18/11/2006 13:56

river island jeans are fab. they wear really well too. definitely worth the money!

AllieBongo · 18/11/2006 13:59

i would get more wear out of them than a dress for a crimbo do. can be worn with sandals in summner also. bargain if you ask me

SoMuchToBits · 18/11/2006 14:05

No, I think that's quite a reasonable price if you are likely to wear them a lot.

crunchie · 18/11/2006 14:09

TBH you can wear them FAR more than a dress, I would say yes, not that much. If you spent that on a posh dress no-one owuld think it was expensive.

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 14:13

Thanks for that i am a jeans girl rea;;y, never wear skirts and dresses. I am going to wear them next week to see the Scissor sisters, hope to be sassy and funky!

TooTickyDoves · 18/11/2006 14:29

Are they organic and fairly traded?

Quootiepie · 18/11/2006 14:35

I dont think so... but I wear my jeans to death I nearly bought some for £40 in Topshop, but did feel bad and looked around and round some cheaper that I actually preffered... but if I totally loved some, I think id buy them.

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 14:36

Organic? ! No they are so darkly black dyed they have a warning triangle on them!

River Island jeans ARE fab but those sparkly ones don't wash well. I bought some dark blue ones that were sparkly and washed them and they got ruined so took them back but the second pair did the same. Couldn't be arsed to return them again.....

beckyboosh · 19/11/2006 20:55

If they make you feel great and you will wear them loads then they are def worth it.

My dh bought me some billabong jeans in the summer. would NEVER have bought them myself but they make me feel good and put a spring in my step!

£39.99 is not a lot to pay for a pair of jeans.

Sheraz · 20/11/2006 20:52

I am worth it!

Blimey, £40 for a pair of jeans is cheap in my book. I buy mine either from Levi's (about £60 a pair) or French Connection (£65 a pair). But I wear jeans to death and they HAVE to be the perfect, flattering fit and cut for me so I don't mind paying for it.
