It's happening today and I'm so excited! I'm having it done on my ribs so ready for it to be a bit scratchy.
Any advice on how to deal with the scratching and any after care tips please!

It's lovely! Don't let it get too wet: a quick, gentle wash in the shower, no baths and don't soak it or it will go patchy.

Very nice!

You don't need to keep covering it with cling film. And don't go mad with the cream - you don't want to slather it, put it on and wipe any excess away with a tissue. Make sure you cover it in the heat or put sun cream on as you don't want sun damage to a healing tattoo.

As to the itching, you can slap it. That works a treat.

That's gorgeous OP! Jealous. You must be really happy with it.

I'm so happy with it! And really really glad I got it done now. It's taken me years to find the right design and I'm glad I waited but over the moon with the whole experience. It's not particularly sore today and didn't hurt much at the time - it really was just a bit scratchy. No painkiller required at all.

If you're thinking about doing it and have kept coming back to the same idea for a design over and over, go and have a chat with a tattoo studio about it. Mine came up with a completely original design from about 30 images I showed him. Then on the day we kept talking about it and modified it right until he started and there was no way he was starting until I was completely happy! And he was more than happy to keep modifying too. And I suspect it was all the planning and changing that's made it so perfect in the end!

Now I'm on the hunt for the next one...
