For my brothers wedding which has been dubbed by family as another royal wedding as both him and sister in law are turning out to be a nightmare...

My dress isn't good enough looks too much like a bridesmaid dress and I need to get another one! Yes as I have unlimited funds, and been told purple isn't the right colour I need navy

My hair must be done in a certain way!

And my make up must be perfect (I actually laughed at this..to their faces)

So anyway my skins ok but I need perfect coverage for a foundation can anyone recommend one?

I have a decent mascara!

I will need eyeshadow, blusher, and a lip stick/gloss? Can anyone recommend anything?

I think it's the foundation I need more than anything

I've found bare minerals to be my best bet for foundation - perhaps worth a trip to a department store to try out?

I use Lancome Teinte Idole Ultra when I go to weddings. Good coverage, lasts well and looks great in photos.

I swear by Clinique blushing blush powder blushes as well. Very pigmented and they last.

I'm going to DBIL's wedding in September which again sounds like another royal wedding and have just bought Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk.

I do wedding make up and love the effect it has on camera. Avoid anything with SPF. It's buildable and gives good coverage with one pump. It does need very moisturised skin and a good primer though.

I really like GA luminous silk but not as long lasting on me. What primer do you use under it 5446?

I'm thinking a trip to somewhere.

My skin can be really dry but I am trying to make sure I use a moisturiser twice a day.

Lancôme foundation oxidises terribly on me. I've heard good things about Dior Star. Do you have time to go to a department store and get samples?

I love Dior Addict lipsticks - I used a shade called "basic" for my own wedding.

Why don't you get booked in with a make up artist to do it on the day? Would last a bit longer than doing it yourself.

Coffee, I am currently using the Laura Mercier primer but it's not perfect.

I have really dry skin and use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm plus primer.

Always on the look out for a new primer!

I use the porefessional primer followed by dior star and then porefessional powder if I REALLY want my make up to stay put. Otherwise dior star is pretty decent on its own :) and a pot lasts quite a while

I'd tell them to sort out dress, makeup and get someone to do the hair to their standards.

What kind of coverage are you after? Light, medium or full coverage?
You could get some ideas for products on Lisa Eldridge's site - she has done videos on foundations for different skin types.
Also get samples before buying so you don't end up wasting money on products you don't like.

For eyeshadow, I would personally go for a cream shadow in a fairly neutral colour with some sparkle such as Chanel Illusion d'ombre in Emerveille or Laura Mercier Caviar eye sticks in Moonlight.

I like when the lip product and blusher match in tone, and I prefer blue toned lip producys as they make the teeth look whiter (warmer/orange toned lip products tend to make teeth look more yellow).

I would recommend getting some free foundation samples as everyones skin is so different . I got one of the GA luminous silk and it was awful. Simultaneously oily and patchy, thankfully it only lasted on my skin for a couple of hours. Also hated bare minerals, was cakey and made me look washed out. I haven't found anything better than Chanel Vitalumiere
It might be worth going to a MAC counter. A makeover is free if you buy some products and they have a really good range of foundations and their eyeshadows are excellent

Foundation : heliocare, check out the reviews. I've tried the lot for my blotchy eczema prone dry face and it's flippin amazing. Great coverage, nice dewy appearance and stays put

Clarins everlasting and Estée Lauder double wear are excellent foundations which will last all day but because they have SPF they will not look great in photos with flash photography.

Yes - second MAC eyeshadows with MAC Painterly paint pot (like a primer) underneath. And also the urban decay setting spray - the all nighter one that someone mentioned.

(And thanks 5446 have tried the laura mercier hydrating one but it did next to nothing for me! Was so disappointed because the sales assistant had THE BEST most flawless makeup and she was wearing this primer).

Ummmm, forget the makeup, You're a guest at the wedding, not in the bridal party. As long as you're not wearing a big white dress who the fuck are they to dictate to you your dress, hair and makeup!

Unless they're stumping up the cash they don't get any input.

I showed my brother a picture of my dress he said it was fine, bride to be saw it and went a wild, it's too much like a bridesmaid dress (it's not hers are halter neck and mine is strapless & and complete different colour) so she's demanded I buy a new dress preferably navy!

I said I'd wear my hair down with a few curls oh no it's got to be up

Make up I'm happy to buy some new stuff as obviously I will be using it again! Perfect isn't going to happen tho! I'm not great at doing my own! I'm very basic as I don't have much or use it often! But have a few special events this summer so can use again!

I did think about getting my make up done at a counter but the venue is over an hour away so have to leave at 10.30am to get to it on time, plus having 2 toddlers to get ready I just won't have time!

I would suggest minimal communication with them until the wedding as if they don't know, they can't complain about it

Any questions should be met with 'I don't know, I haven't decided yet' or 'I've been too busy to think about it'
