sequin shrug
or shrug with fluffyness on colour

or go for bright shoes in a patent eg red or green and accessorise to that colour

or pashmina in a colour

Is black 'ok' for weddings these days ? I always thought top to toe black was a bit of a no-no.

I'll have a think about something to wear with it. I'm assumng it will be hot in Italy therefore you don't want anything heavy ?

NomDePlume · 19/11/2006 19:58

Don't go for primary coloured patent ! It's just not that sort of a dress.

fin54 · 19/11/2006 20:15

Thanks for your reply's, this is the problem I am having. I don't know what the weather is going to be like in Italy, the wedding is at the end of March and most of the males attending will be in kilts.

hmm - agree that the dress needs something subtle - definitely not a bright colour or a pastel, but perhaps a shrug in a dark colour - plum / dark teal etc, or even something muted and metallic like bronze or pewter.
Wearing colour with black to 'brighten it up' almost always backfires - better to go with something understated and elegant.

Actually what strikes me as being perfect is a lacy or sheer shrug to echo the detail at the hem - this is fantastic - black with a subtle metallic detail that you could pick up in shoes / bag /jewellery.

This might work too if the colour is good IRL, but comes in black if the purple's not right (though you have to buy the vest too). Am not convinced about the tie front though.

This is very chic but might be a bit structured to go with such a floaty dress - this one is worth a look too but might be too fussy.

However, I think this one could be just the thing as it would add interest without brash colour - black-and-white accessories also very cool.

Hi Thanks for your responce, I have been thinking along the lines of dark plum or wine so I will have an other look
