What to wear - Goodwood Festival of Speed

Folks - help me with what to wear for this event. It's not my cup of tea, but it's a corporate do. I believe in a box (or whatever the equivalent is)/ enclosure. Website suggests casual, but I suspect this is for the main arena rather than corporate hospitality. Anyone been that can give me some pointers? Thank you!!

Smart casual - no hats. Men in linen jackets in corporate hospitality, women need shoes to cope with grass and some gravel so flats best. I'd wear a dress with cropped jacket as its not due to be that warm, but I'm curvy so struggle with trousers that you can wear with flats for smart casual events. The average non corporate punter is in jeans but the motor industry is a tad antiquated & most of the car companies seem to use models as event staff. There is quite a lot of obvious money about.

Flat sandals or pumps, summery dress, perhaps a sunhat, and sunglasses. Jacket to cover up if necessary. It is a long walk up to the hill from the tent and at some point someone will suggest walking up there so make sure your shoes don't rub! I totally agree about the obvious money.

Take some foam ear plugs as well as the car/aircraft engine noise is full-on in the morning, unless you're a veteran of F1 events - which I am but I still hate it!

There's just been a piece on the opening day on BBC Breakfast.

Peering at the people, it seems to be a mix of shirt-sleeve order, a few men in (lightweight) suits, and people in polo shirts (or collared, not tshirts).

I am going as a 'normal' punter on Saturday but with corporate hospitality passes. I have not been before but am planning to wear 3/4 chino type trousers a cami and light blazer with comfy flats. From the above posts that seems to be ok!

I went last year - it was chinos and blazers all round. That was on the men, I didn't really notice what the women were wearing. I don't remember it being anything like Ascot though, although for corporate I would say a dress is probably best, definitely on the smarter side. I wore denim shorts and sun top as was just a regular camper - felt very out of place when we went to dinner.

My friend goes every year and she always gets dressed up all vintage, looks amazing. I thought everyone dressed like this.

She's married to someone in the business though so maybe she goes to a particular part?

grumpy that's Goodwood Revival meeting - everyone dresses for that! This is a different meeting, with more emphasis on motor racing/car design/technology.

Its a long walk to everywhere at FOS, and outside the corporate tents theres very little shade at all. And its all on grass. So flat, very comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat if you are planning on walking round. A a folding stool, as if you want to go and watch where the real racing is up the hill theres no seating would be most useful.

And drink lots of water!

I went Thursday and yesterday, just as a normal punter. If you're going to walk around the place, it's A LOT of walking so you need to wear sensible shoes. It was ridiculously hot both days. On Thursday I wore a t-shirt, skinny jeans and plimsolls. Yesterday I wore a short dress with cowboy boots and took a jacket but didn't wear it. Some women had stilettos on, some had wedges on, some had flats. Pretty much anything goes but if you're going corporate, I'd go a bit smarter but I'd still stick with flat shoes. I'm going with Porsche hospitality next year and don't plan on walking around the event but I'll still wear flats!
