Knickers! What to buy if starting a new knicker drawer from scratch? What ones are good?!

I have had it with my scruffy collection of Primark multipack pants. In addition to the scruffy pairs, I had a few frilly or lacy bits I never wore because they weren't comfortable, just from Primark so not very nice anyway.

Have binned practically all of it, and now I urgently need to kit our my knicker drawer with new stuff.

What should I get? Black, white and nude basics to start off with?

What brands are good? I think I like styles such as mini briefs and bikinis, and french knickers, but hate stuff like boy shorts and thongs.

I love Victorias Secret, you can buy instore in London branches but I think they have others! They have the comfiest knickers ever Grin usually on some kind of deal like 7 for £25.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 19/06/2015 13:21

Kinky knickers.

On the pricey side but I got mine in the sale section and with a discount code. They are super comfie, wash really well and I feel lovely when I put them on.

For everyday basics these John Lewis ones are excellent. They're the quality that M&S used to be and much better than the similar Gap ones that are more expensive and which my arse eats.

cressetmama · 19/06/2015 13:55

I was going to make suggestions, then read that you hate boy shorts and thongs... so I'll ease out of here.

longestlurkerever · 19/06/2015 13:58

I like Victoria's secret too (though tend to go for the boy shorts). Seriously comfy and stay new-looking for longer than most. I have just discovered there is a store at Brent Cross.

Seriouslyffs · 19/06/2015 13:59

Another vote for Victoria Secret. Very comfy and stay looking new for a long time.

justjuanmorebeer · 19/06/2015 14:05

I got a lot of stuff from figleaves outlet and brastop when I did this. I like panache, fantasie, curvy kate and freya for everyday stuff.
For night time things I like l'agent by agent provocateur (all bought in sale and so much cheaper than the normal range) or gossard sets.
Ted baker have some nice stuff too wait for the debenhams sale for this.

GymHoney Knicks from TKMaxx. Excellent quality, cotton, really comfortable. Not always available but keep an eye out. Cost me about £8 for 3 pairs.

Dullygreygirl · 19/06/2015 15:07

This is all really great, thank you Smile Victoria's Secret is coming out well! I think there is one on Oxford St so will go in and have a browse.

John Lewis everyday seem like very good value too.

Those would get me started, and then I can keep an eye out for those other brands you all are mentioning, and pick up ones I like as and when...

Do Figleaves and Brastop have good online sales?

I live in central London with no car, so not near any outlets.

I love the Victoria's Secret briefs with the lace top and also their high leg ones

ManAliveThisThingsFantastic · 19/06/2015 16:06

The little sister of Victoria Secret, Pink do a few nice bits. They tend to be a lot cheaper than Victoria Secret too.

Be warned, you will come across leopard print dental floss with "Pink" scrolled on somewhere but you can pick up some really nice ones!

VeganCow · 19/06/2015 16:10

these

BikeRunSki · 19/06/2015 16:13

I love the Pretty Polly 3 packs of colourful cotton briefs that TKMaxx usually have. Also Aussie brand Bond's from John Lewis, but £10/pair!

flightywoman · 19/06/2015 16:41

Uniqlo boy shorts are lovely, really comfy and very well wearing.

But for a splurge I recommend Who Made Your Pants. They make gorgeous gorgeous knickers, use unwanted fabric from large manufacturers, and are a social enterprise so you get lovely pants and can satisfy your social conscience at the same time! They aren't cheap, but they do good offers fairly regularly.

Branleuse · 19/06/2015 16:42

pretty polly knickers are brilliant. I get mine from tkmax
