School uniform for mummies!

Visited dd's new school today and it got me thinking - what a great excuse for a shopping trip for me! along with the uniform for dd of course

I'm fairly happy with my wardrobe but thought I'd pick the brains of some dab hands on here as to your 'go-to' items for school drop off/pick up time. I seem to remember seeing posts about THE dress last year. Any for us newbies in September?

Also looking for some trousers that aren't jeans. I'm 5ft 8 and 10/12 and feeling a little like jeans may have had their day for me. Any good low maintenance trews you can recommend?
TIA!

I work from home so put on slightly smarter things for the school run, then get changed into my joggers when home again. For the school run i usually wear nice jeans, converses, a t-shirt and jacket plus jewllery-ALWAYS jewellery. I like Zara, the occasional thing from Hush that does not make me look pregnant, and plain items from M&Co.

Just because I understand the question doesn't mean I have an answer to it. If I had all the answers I wouldn't be here.

I don't know why I'm even engaging with you in this grumpiness.

Sorry OP.

I've never had a school run dress, and I work part time so change out of my work clothes into my "school run clothes" before I pick up from school as I don't want to spend the afternoon in my smart work clothes.

Lioninthesun - I live in loose fit skinny jeans, but if you don't want to wear jeans, then how about skinny khakis, which look great if you roll the legs up and wear with flip flops, sandals or pumps. Nice loose shirt over the top to keep cool. Sorry I've got no time to look for links, but River Island is a good place to look.

I also sometimes theme my clothes... so today for example I am a bit boho. Floaty shirt, sandals, anklet. Other days I do 'hedge fund wife' which is nice jeans, ankle boots, blazer, pearls. Occasionally I do rock chick, which is black ripped skinnies, black linen shirt, dangly earrings and sunglasses.

So when I have the energy I sometimes for amusement decide my theme for the day and dress accordingly. So, I do have a 'school run mum' uniform of sorts, that mentioned above.

I don't have many hobbies, it has to be said... Blush

The confusion is because the MN school run dress is a term for a go-anywhere, no fuss dress, and nothing whatsoever to with what you wear on an actual school run.

If I do look at the actual school run, it's mainly those dressed for work that they're going on to, quite a lot in Lycra and the rest in jeans.

I have done the school run in a tiny white cute tennis dress - I was going straight to a lesson with no time to change.
I did feel self conscious at first, but then I embraced it - I looked HOT!!! Grin

So I recommend short sportswear!

Blimey, I've started a bunfight! Grin
I was just thinking that I saw a few threads on here before about certain dresses that were good for slinging on for the school run. I didn't 'start' that, it is an MN thing
I was really asking if anyone has any links to nice trousers and dresses Confused
