28 - where do you shop?

Fed up of the likes of New Look and H&M - went in today and was surrounded by teenagers in crop tops. Felt very out of place at the grand old age of 28. I have no idea where to shop though.
I love classic and elegant looks, but school run suitable. (Think Victoria Beckham) I want "roll out of bed elegance" if that makes sense?
Here is the catch. I am poor. Very poor. Would love to shop at the likes of Reiss but H&M and New Look are more my budget.
Any suggestions please? I am utterly clueless and in desperate need of help!

OP, about EverythingFivePounds, delivery is quick, about 2 days in my experience and around £3.50. Like I said, it is a bit hit and miss, some things have been rubbish but others have been "wow, wasn't expecting that"...for a fiver a hit, it's worth the risk. They will part re-pay postage for returns.

Ebay!

I still shop in h&m but also new look, matalan, next, primark, topshop...

I had success in mango last time I was shopping but only buy in the sale. Debenhams has some bits

Dancing queen - you should look at shops over here in the US. I'm just outside of NyC and most sizes are 00, 0 and 2. Plenty of the higher end stores don't carry items in sizes greater than a 6. You find a couple of 8 and 10s at a push.

J Crew has a good 00 size from what my skinny friend tells me. She is a 6 in the UK and 5'7"!

Echoing ebay and charity shops in rich areas.

Find New Look etc very depressing though still there are occasionally some gems - it's a case of can I cope with the shopping experience in order to find them!

nottheop - really liking mango - had completely forgotten about them and some lovely stuff on there.

Ellen - that's exactly how I feel! It is incredibly depressing most of the time!
