Are cropped trousers frumpy when you're 48?

My teenage girls think that cropped trousers are the uniform of the middle-aged. Are they right?

Agree, tailored and not too cropped are ace, but not flappy linen. Love Gap slim crops - similar to boden bistro but half the price

Cointreau makes a good point. That leggings/jeggings and crop top outfit makes even the most divinely sylphlike adolescent girl look incredibly frumpy. So sad.

In my case I get too cold with cropped trousers in cold weather. For a start I would need to wear socks, and that isn't a good look with cropped trousers.

I think it depends very much on your body shape. I wear cropped chino type trousers thinking I look like Audrey Hepburn.

I'm a pear shape with short-ish legs and my bum really is quite big in relation to everything else. But I LIKE cropped trousers and at my age (52) I have decided I'm going to bloody well wear them, but make it look as good as it can. So I tend to wear tops that either cover up my bum, or hit it halfway so that not all of it is on view.

I couldn't give a flying pig's ear if it's in fashion or not. Audrey wouldn't have, either.......

I like the slightly cropped 7/8
effect like Boden Chelsea turn-ups but would only wear the very cropped mid calf ones on holiday in a non city setting when it's really hot.

cropped with socks and trainers looks frumpy unless going on a walking expedition or possibly travelling somewhere hot.

I wear cropped smart trousers as in 2-3 inches above ankle, or roll up chinos so they are just above the ankle.
