Is this dress nice or horrible?

this Sorry, is under party dresses, page 3, called katie prom dress. Can't link straight to it. I need a dress for friends 30th birthday party (at her house but invite says cocktail dress). I don't want to be too formal though. Have tried this on and its quite flattering just don't know whether will look a bit 'silly'. Have tried on another that looked ok in oasis but was black and more calf length so maight feel a bit boring/formal for a house party.

it hint he nude layer underneath must conatrast from your reals kin colour

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 18:08

So you think I'd need a tan or darker skin? I did wonder that.

it's really nice! not too formal if invite says cocktail dress

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 18:10

I know, southeastastra, I'm just really not used to wearing things like this. Does show quite a lot of skin and have got images of being really overdressed and feeling ridiculous!

no i like it! it's for a 30th birthday too! you could wear a tie up top with it if you're feeling overdressed but don't think you'd need one.

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 18:16

Like a little wrap/tie short cardie thing?

yes!

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 19:48

its the one i liked and picked without knowing the name.

DizzyBint · 12/11/2006 19:52

i think it's lovely. not too dressy at all. just dressy enough that you'll feel special but not all trussed up like if you wore the shiny ones next to it. do you have shoes already or will they be new?

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 19:52

oh that's good!

have seen shoes at new look, but not sure whether they would look over co-ordinated! Are a bit like the fourth pair on page 3 of river island going out shoes. but not peep toed, more round toed, but similar colours/pattern. or whethre to just go for black ones?

i think they would look perfect cos it's only the top of your dress that's lacy. it would look naff if whole dress was lacy plus lacy shoes. dont do lacy bag tho..eek!

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 20:02

You don't think too colour coordinated both being plack with pale pink?

i think it's truly lovely. it is deffo the type of thing meant on the invite imo.

granarybeck · 12/11/2006 20:08

Oh thanks lady of the flowers, I'd got myself in a complete state after an afternoon of trying dresses on (worse than looking for new swimwear!).
