I am going on a sun holiday later in the summer. This will be my first beach / pool / resort type holiday since I was a child. We have always gone to cities etc.

I took a look through my wardrobe and realise that I have very little that will work for this type of holiday and I want to look and feel good so I am willing to invest in some new clothes. I am 45, 5ft 9" size 12 (tight at the moment but on a healthier eating plan and 8lbs down in 6 weeks so hopefully will be a nice slender 10/12 by the time we go). My main issue is that I am very very pale skinned (red hair) and I am untoned and also have a v vein on my right calf right in the middle which makes me self conscious about getting y pins out.

I am determined to brave it out, esp if I lose the weight and slap on some fake tan. I am planning on jersey day dresses for day trips, bikini / swm suit and cover up for pool / beach but would love some nice glam evening wear.

I have just ordered a beautiful long skirt from the noa noa website

I really like the idea of white skinny ankle length jeans (maybe with zips on ankles), white or grey vest and a beautiful kimono - I would like a really nice one. I have seen cheap ones in H&M etc but don't like them much.

Has anyone seen a nice one?

Thanks

thank you zaraW I fear I am too old for the urban outfitters 'look'.

I would like a nice kimono in silk, with a beautiful pattern in a flattering shape. But I don't know where to start looking - there are LOTS of them about but mostly polyester from what I have seen

River Island and Top Shop have some beautiful kominos but they are not cheap. New Look and Select have cheaper ones but they are not as pretty, but would brighten up an outfit and are in the sale.IF I had the money, I would plunge for one out of River Island.

Libit's link is a silk mix, and looks very lovely...

KiteKit · 30/05/2015 17:15

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will take a look in River Island next week, I never think to go in there anymore.

spongeBob which one in libits link do you mean? I saw a whole page of kimonos in the link. Was there a particular one you liked there?

Lucinda one, third row down, third accross.

This one is cotton, not silk, but is really lovely.

KiteKit · 30/05/2015 21:57

Thank you tethers I REALLY love the Hoss one - fabulous but oh so pricey! Damn it!

Lambzig I also like that mango one, thanks for the link.

I think I prefer the shorter ones rather than the very long styles. It is confusing though.

Wish that Hoss one wasn't so dear!
