is the perfect 'not trying too hard' but still smart dress out there?

I've got an important talk coming up at work. Normally we are quite casual - and I don't want to stray too far from that but I need to look like I've made an effort!

I don't like my arms and legs so I'd like to wear a dress (or skirt/top combo) that has short sleeves and comes slightly below the knee (I'm 5ft 3). Anybody know of a smart/casual dress that might work? I'm a classic pear shape so anything too fitted on the skirt tends to cling too much. I'm a size 10/12 but have lots of lumps and bumps that flimsy material tends to show up. Budget anything up to £150 (although a lot less would be great!). I'm 30 so nothing too young or too old!

Also, I'm not sure what the weather will be like so it would be good if I could wear the outfit with either black tights and flat black shoes or bare legs and flat (gold or tan) sandals or peep toes.

I don't ask for much do I?!? Grin

this shape would be perfect on me - but the colour is a bit bright and the lace probably a bit much for the occasion.

I like the first one but I'm no fashionista and usually rely on my 11 year old son to pick my clothes for me

I've got the warehouse dress and Its very forgiving but is starting to look a bit cheap after quite a few washes

I have a similar lace dress to the pink one but in a sort of muted black from Fatface. They also do it in navy. It is above knee on me but i am 5ft 7
