I'm 50,v pale skinned and can't accessorise with heels.

But size 14 was huge on top and size 12 too tight over waist and hips

I'm the same shape as you and have just bought a similar shape dress from house of fraser.
But it's a bit more 50s style, fuller skirt. Also slightly raised waist.

Laura ashley never fit me.

I tried a few on in Monsoon and they didn't fit either.
