I can afford one pair of jeans only - what should they be?

Have gone from 14st 2 to 11 5(5ft 7) but currently have still another stone and a half to go. I've outgrown all my 14 jeans but am not sure I'm quite a 12 yet.

Have decent bum, legs and hips but big tummy - want something straight/slim - not too boyfriend or mumsey.

Have no more than £40 and no idea where to start has up til now bought pretty much all my clothes from Sainsburys.

Thanks

i've got a few pairs of jeans from sainsbury's which i like - but i'm no fashion expert. if you aren't going to be using them for long, they are cheap

M&S do the nicest jegging style jeans (that aren't actually jeggings) in 15 different colours!

Jeans wise I find Boden don't go baggy after a few hours wear. Very comfy and flattering.

I also have discovered John Rocha range from Debenhams also resist baggy status. They are about £30 a pair.

cherrytree63 · 28/05/2015 09:33

I'm a jeans addict, got Levis, Wranglers, Lee etc but my favourites are a pair I got from Lidls! They're Esmara Emily's, I think they come up a bit small, I'm a 12, and the jeans are a 14, non stretch, straight leg, and have that nice worn in look and feel. Another brand I like are Moto.
I buy most of my clothes from charity shops though.

dementedpixie · 28/05/2015 09:34

I hot some nice dark blue ones from matalan for £10

andadietcoke · 28/05/2015 09:40

I've gone from 15.11 to 11.0 and have bought lots of temporary jeans on the way. Next seem to suit me but I have a smaller waist and big hips. I buy the slim fit and they're £20. Smart enough to wear for a night out. Buy them when they're so tight you can barely do them up though!!

AoifeBell · 28/05/2015 10:18

My favourite jeans are 7 for Mankind. They're from about £150 in the shop but so worth it. I can't afford that price now so I buy them from eBay. You can usually get a pair for £20!

dreamingofsun · 28/05/2015 10:19

i like M&S too. Boden's weren't great - fit wasn't right as i've got small hips and a big waist - sent the ones i got in the sale to the jumble in the end

codandchipstwice · 28/05/2015 10:25

Thanks all - I find Boden a terrible fit on me - all hip and no waist. Next are better too, I just get so overwhelmed with the choice!

I like the Marks one too that pp listed - I'll have a look there as well

I am terrible at buying jeans that fit properly!
I do like M&S jeggings, love the velvet ones for winter but I like wide leg for summer and they all either cling or bag on the wrong places!

BikeRunSki · 28/05/2015 10:30

I'm the same height and a size 12/14. My favourite jeans are Toast straight leg (£100 normally, but £40 in sale) and Primark skinnies. I hated my Sainsbury jeans, washed very badly and they are quite high polyester content and bobbled after a few weeks.

Tweezertastic · 28/05/2015 11:34

Dotty ps 16 quid jeans

Tweezertastic · 28/05/2015 11:49

15 pound jeans. They have really improved as about five years ago I bought some and had to stop wearing them as they were not great in terms of going baggy. The latest pair bought a few months back have not stretched at all.

Dognado · 28/05/2015 12:10

Gap Always Skinny are great - they have high waisted too which is good for wobbly tummies. 30% off today.

LittleG69 · 28/05/2015 13:25

I like Gap slim straight and girlfriend. I'm a similar shape to you but you're taller and both these are flattering

lemonteaplease · 28/05/2015 13:31

Topshop joni jeans!

Carpaccio · 28/05/2015 14:33

I love the straight regular ones from H&M: www.hm.com/gb/product/87248?article=87248-A

pandapens · 28/05/2015 14:50

I'm a similar shape to you (though a bit bigger) and find Next Relaxed Skinny - £26 - brilliant. Need to go down a size or two as they come up very big. I find I have to wear a belt with them as although they do fit, they seem to work their way down - but don't let that put you off! I used to wear Gap Always Skinny but find these a bit less tight-fitting and more flattering. (PS Well done on the weight loss!)

mrssnodge · 28/05/2015 15:35

new look high waisted super skinny! Simply fab, and never fall down or go baggy

ZeddyByeBye · 28/05/2015 16:29

My fave jeans are from Asda- they're super comfy, flattering and cost me about a tenner!

nuttybananas · 28/05/2015 18:35

another vote for matalan - really nice and very cheap

Anothernumber99 · 28/05/2015 20:28

M&S jeggings were rubbish quality - had a few pairs and they didn't last long.
Currently got J Brand - £60 from TK Maxx and loving them so far - so comfy and fit like a glove. Only had them a couple of weeks so can't comment on how long they last.
