Sorry if I'm late to the party but have just discovered coconut oil!

It's brilliant!

Got talked into buying a huge pot of it at the weekend, have put it on all my dry bits to quite impressive results. Tonight I put some melted oil on my hair for a couple of hours and it looks and feels amazing!

I'm not planning on cooking with it but wondering what other wonders I've missed out on?

Your nails!

Rub it into my nails Star ? What does that do? Make them stronger I guess?

I've read on MN people use it for hot cleansing - but I have no idea what that is ... Shock

Similar to your hair. Strong and shiny (smells nice too! Although that could be me being weird). I warm it up a little and apply with cotton buds. Like a little spa :)

I like using it to remove eye make up. Just kind of dissolves everything with minimal scrubbing.

I also just made a body scrub with coconut ok and white sugar.

I use it to clean my face. I user a hot flannel to remove or. Melts make up. I've mixed it with shea butter and sweet almond oil to make a moisturiser.

Interested to find out what hot cleansing means - as a facial? Star apply to where with cotton buds?
Alpaca I put shampoo and a bit of water on my hair first to break down the oil, then washed it twice. There was a lot of oil residue on my hand when I dried it but it doesn't look greasy now it's dry. I'm very impressed!

Mad you melt it or put it on as it is?
I'm fascinated! It's my new best friend!

I take a fingernail sized amount and rub it in my hands to melt, then rub it over my face. It melts the make up off.

SingingSands · 28/05/2015 00:34

I slather it on my face, then run a cotton flannel under the hot tap, wring it out then hold over my face for a few moments before wiping the oil away. Then rinse and repeat. Gets rid of all makeup, dirt and grime (not that I work at the coal face). And the water has to be really hot. It's a steam cleaning facial and my skin is amazing since I started doing this.

SingingSands · 28/05/2015 00:35

I use it as a moisturiser too. Face, body, hair, heels.

We cook with it a lot too. We have a massive tub of the stuff that is seemingly never going to run out...

It's one of the healthiest oils to cook with.
