So it's coming up to that time of year. Summer holiday time. I am in good shape but was skinny when I was pregnant with dd1 and so ended up with stretch marks and a funny looking tummy button. Don't get me wrong I've seen worse but my confidence is very low with regards to swimwear. Either a bikini shows I have a nice shape but there's the stretch marks, or an all in one seems to make me look bigger around the tummy Confused

Does anyone have any amazing swimwear to recommend?

Does anyone brave the bikini when they have a tummy like mine? Blush

Help me avoid the dread associated with holidays!

You should be proud of your stretch marks! They show you carried your baby well Smile. I have the same problem and also am glowing white! I have a tankini and an all in one Adidas cossie, it's got a tummy control panel which really works and lower cut legs. I wear it for swimming and water slides, tankini for the beach.

Phase eight swimwear is terrific quality and well cut / boned . I also get a lot from Debenhams but this year's offerings aren't as good as usual .

Curvy Kate is my favourite brand - and yes, I wear my bikini with pride despite my saggy belly, scars and stretch marks. The beach is for everyone.

(I hate those high-waisted bottoms and prefer shorts)

It sounds counterintuitive, but I've always found bikini bottoms with a ruched finish at the band at the front to be quite flattering. Whether contrasting or same fabric. It seems to hide the wobbly bits and the exposed skin above looks flatter.
Not found any I like recently though.

Thanks so much :)

Will check out all those suggestions! :)

I am proud of my stretch marks so to speak but feel like everyone is staring at them :(

Have you tried Pour Moi? They sell really nice high-waisted bikini bottoms and their tops go up to HH or J. Also lots of their tops are underwired which I have to wear (sagging tits!) and a couple of their tankini tops as well as lots of swimsuits look to be underwired too.

MamaLazarou · 28/05/2015 07:44

Nobody on the beach is looking at your stretch marks, OP: they are all too busy having fun/relaxing/worrying about their own insecurities.

I wear Freya bras so good idea to check out their swimwear theawfuldaughter :)

And mrscynical excellent shout with the pour moi suggestion. Many things to choose from, seen quite a few I'm going to order to try on that's for sure!

Mama I know that's true. It's really my own issue not anyone else's fault. Maybe just going for it this year I will realise that no one was slightly interested and then I will stop stressing about it. Strangely I'm not at all bothered at home, wonder round naked in front of bf and confident then but the beach is just scary!

Can't recommend anything but wanted to say I've recently come back from holiday and there really are people of all shapes and sizes in all manner of swimwear - choose something you feel happy with and once you're over there your worries really will disappear (my mum used to say there'll always be those that are prettier, skinnier, taller, browner etc but someone will think that about you too)

forluna retro swimsuits are fab and hide a multitude of issues, gave me cofidence after my dd. Their customer service is also fab. www.forluna.co.uk

I bought a beautiful swimsuit from M&S the other day, it's very flattering and a lovely colour.
