Babyliss Big Hair giving me static-y hair?

Hi all,

I'm new to Mumsnet - have lurked for several months and finally decided to open an account!
I have a Babyliss Big Hair brush and would absolutely love it if it were not for the fact that it gives my hair A LOT of static... I tried removing all hair from the brush but it did not work.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Did you manage to solve it, and how?

Thanks in advance!

We haven't had this problem. Do you use any hair products before using it such as heat defence spray or a smoothing serum?

It did the same to my hair I used hair oil but when I stopped using the oil and started using Herbal Essences no paraben range no more static....not sure which helped as I changed both things together?

I actually do use heat protectants (spray or serum/oil), but I don't think they make a difference because the static is on the top of the head and on the frontal sections of the hair, framing the face (where a fringe would be, if I had one).
HeffalumpsnWoozles interesting to hear that paraben-free products have helped... I have never been too bothered about parabens, but now I want to try this! Thank you.
Anyone else had this problem with the BBH?
