Am I deluded to think a bob would be easier to manage than my current long hair?

I love my long hair on the day it's washed and I've taken time to style it.

However it's v time consuming! I've got a 10 minute window to get washed in morning due to a baby and 2 year old!!

Would I be wise to go for the chop? I've included a picture of what I'd like; would this be easy to maintain?

I currently spend most of the time with my hair scraped back in a messy bun thing!

Am I deluded to think a bob would be easier to manage than my current long hair?

I have a short chin length bob and think it takes more maintenance now. It has a slightly wavy kink to it which gets more obvious without the weight of long hair to drag it down. My shorter hair also musses up more overnight as I toss and turn in my sleep. And in the morning there's no putting it in a plait or bun to hide the chaos - I have to straighten and style it, as it's too short to go up.

I do prefer it short - it suits my face. But it's not a low maintenance option at all. On mornings when I'm short of time I long for the length back!

If you have time and money to get your short style re-trimmed every 6-8 weeks it's probably easier. I had long hair for ages and was amazed by how quick it was to wash dry and style when I had it all chopped off. However at the time I could rarely afford hairdressers and it looked horrible after a few weeks and by the time I could manage an appointment it had to be a complete restyle rather than simple trim and never looked as good. I went back to long, and wear my hair in a clip. I could afford regular hairdressing now but have better things to do with my time and find long hair much lower maintenance despite the longer time for washing.

Agree that when my hair is shorter it tends to kink and jut out at odd angles without the weight to keep it down.

The style you've attached looks pretty easy to maintain to me, it's long enough that you can still tie it up if you need to and also not so short that it's going to need a trim every 6 weeks. Depends on your hair type really though! That style is very similar to my natural hair type although looks a million times more looked after

I'm trying to grow out my bob because I'm fed up of having to style it all the time. I'd just like to be able to stick it up in a ponytail sometimes which is much less effort!

I went for a pixie cut when I was pregnant with dc as I was going to ha e 2 under 2. It's brilliant and so easy in the morning just wash and go. BUT it grows out so quickly that after 4 weeks it starts to look really messy and impossible to style without it being cut again and takes ages to sort in the morning.
I'm now in the horrible messy stage waiting for it to grow out so I can bung it up in a pony tail . or might change my mind and have it cut short again so it looks nice and easy

I have a chin length bob that is slightly layered and graduated at the back. I find it super easy to deal with just quickly dry it and run the straighteners through it. I barely have to brush it between washes.

Mine is exactly like the one in the OP. I had 6 inches cut off so it was pretty long.

I find it so much easier now - towel dry, bit of oil and sea salt spray though it and leave to dry naturally, then straighteners to curl any bits that are sticking out. Takes me about 5-10 mins to style but my hair is naturally wavy.

When I had hair a bit like op's I just used to dry it with my head upside down.

A bob is the most time consuming style ime if you have anything other than bone straight hair that doesn't need any straightening.

If you get a bob you have to keep up the style by visiting the hairdressers every few months ( which is my idea of hell )

I think long hair is low maintenance and I only get my cut every year or so......although I do tackle split ends myself

I have a graduated bob that is cut right into the nape of my neck, so very short at the back.

It suits my fine hair & probably takes 5-10 minutes in the morning to blow dry - I have to wash it everyday as I look like I've had an electric shock in the morning!

I did have long hair before but all I did was wear it up - I got bored of it. I don't have lovely swishy hair though, so it tended to look rubbish down.

I find that having a bob is a quick hairstyle as I don't have thick hair & it looks stylish & funky, suits the way I dress.

But you do have to style it.....so it's not very low maintenance.

I've just had mine cut into a chin length graduated bob again, after growing it out to long over the last couple of years.

I love it in a bob and am pleased I had it cut again, but it does need washing and drying every day or it's scruffy.

The pictures you linked to are not what I'd call a bob, so don't ask your hairdresser for a bob if that's what you have in mind!
That length and messy sort of style would be quite low maintenance though, and you can still stick it up if needs be, so would probably be a good option.
