Potential TMI - can you get a pedicure if you have a fungal nail infection?

Got an amazing deal in a good spa and there's a choice of treatments, including pedicures... Does anyone know if you can get one if you have a nail infection? The infection is healing, but the nail is growing out super slow.

Asking for a friend.

I did once and the beautician was so amazed at the state of my nail that she called the other girls in to look. She had clearly never seen a fungal nail infection before. Never again, I was soooo embarrassed! I hope your experience is better because the nails look much better with a layer of varnish on them!

Thanks! There's potential sandal weather on the horizon & figure my nails could do with some glamorous camoflage... Just don't want to pass it on to anyone else Confused

Honestly? I don't think it's fair to ask anyone to deal with fungal toenails unless they're a medical professional who is treating it.

Mostlyjustaluker · 07/05/2015 21:28

Surely it is contiguous so you can't.

I had my fingernails gelled today and the beautician said that they will not work on anyone who has a fungal nail infection or a verruca.

And tbh, who can blame them? You shouldn't expect them to

No!!!!

mycatlikestwiglets · 07/05/2015 21:56

Totally not the point of your thread but how are you treating it OP? DS has an infection and I don't know what to do about it (too young for most treatments) so wondering if you've used a natural treatment.

MsTrunchbull · 07/05/2015 22:04

Ok, sort of knew it was a no-no & a bit gross. Twiglets - tea tree oil. A drop morn & night. Took ages to see any change, but it is working. A home pedicure with a tin of Dulux it is then...
