If you're a winter, would you buy tan wedges?

I can't decide if they'll go with everything (neutral) or in fact be wrong with all my summer clothes (black, navy, grey, white, cobalt, raspberry pink, for the most part).

First world problem but please indulge me :)

Yes. I really like black and tan, and navy and tan, and white and tan.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/05/2015 19:53

I don't 'do' the whole colour thing though, so it may not be the 'official' answer. :)

HenriettaBarnet · 06/05/2015 19:54

I am a winter and wear tan wedges with my white, cobalt or navy dresses/skirts. oh and denim skirts/dresses too (especially the 70s type midi ones).

QueenCardigan · 06/05/2015 19:55

Personally I wouldn't but I've never had a thing for tan anyway. It's not "officially" winter but they're not near your face and if you like them go for it

SunnyUpNorth · 06/05/2015 20:13

Yes because as others have said they are far away enough from your face and would most likely go with most of the colours you would wear on your bottom half.

I'm a winter but do buy the odd thing I shouldn't if I really like it and it's fairly neutral.

shadesofwinter · 06/05/2015 20:21

I wouldn't, no. I don't think it would look bad, but I think there are other colours that would look better.

fredabear · 06/05/2015 20:23

I wear tan with black, white, cobalt and navy not so sure about pink though. Why be ruled by rules, who made them up anyway?!

GingerLemonTea · 06/05/2015 20:26

I am a winter. I had tan wedges but sold them as they just didn't look right & were hardly worn.

cathyandclaire · 06/05/2015 20:38

Yes, I treat them as a neutral.

burnishedsilver · 06/05/2015 21:06

I'm a winter. Tan wouldn't appeal to me and wouldn't be great with anything in my wardrobe.

AmelieinOz · 06/05/2015 21:26

I have a nude sandals that exactly my colour that works. But it's not tan, more flesh, and looks invisible.

I've tried tan/brown shoes/sandals before, never got around to buying them. I guess eventhough I didn't know yet at that time that I was a winter, they didn't look good on my feet.

hippospot · 06/05/2015 21:29

Thanks everyone

I'm really torn! The last thing I want to do is make an expensive mistake.

These are the sandals I've tried on, and they are very comfortable: Clarks

I need to give it more thought.

If you have to put much thought into it they're not for you. You'll find something else that you love.

I actually quite like black and tan (sacrilege!) and white or navy and tan are ok, but I think tan totally falls down when it comes to all other winter colours and looks cheap and orangey.

SoundingBored · 07/05/2015 14:13

I'm a winter and I wear tan wedges with navy and white a LOT in Spring/Summer.

I also have sandals in white and silver that get a lot of mileage.

Cant stand black sandals or summer shoes. Navy and grey shoes always look odd on me, which is a shame.

SoundingBored · 07/05/2015 14:16

I think as well as your colours, you need to consider the style of shoe and your overall build/shape.

Its tricky!

Nude shoes look awful on me, for instance, even though a cooler shade of nude would solve a lot of my summer shoe issues. Its because I am an inverted triangle shape (broad shoulders, big boobs, narrow hips, long skinny legs) and pale/washed out colours accentuate that and make me look like I am trotting around on flesh coloured hooves. Tan kind of balances me out a bit iyswim.

Pantsalive · 07/05/2015 14:22

I'd second SoundingBored on silver. Goes with so many things and looks great with a tan. How about something like these?

Pantsalive · 07/05/2015 14:25

And I love these.

NeitherHereOrThere · 07/05/2015 18:02

Have you tried navy? white? red?

Bunbaker · 07/05/2015 18:15

No, but I don't like tan coloured shoes anyway. I have some bronze coloured shoes that seem to go well with my summer clothes. (I am a winter as well)

Googlers123 · 07/05/2015 18:24

Yes I am a winter and have tan shoes and sandals. I wear a lot of black, white, navy, so I don't see how tan wouldn't work with those colours. I actually think tan is a neutral though and could be worn with colours too. I say go for it!

hippospot · 07/05/2015 20:08

The ones I like don't fit so I'll keep searching.

I love silver sandals and already have some, but wedge-heeled ones might be good, though the ones you linked to pantsalive won't work as I'd need leather. Thanks for the idea though.

Thanks everyone for the input.
