Can someone pleeeeeease help me find a shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair and an itchy flaky scalp?? I'm so fed up, I have tried so many and they either make my scalp sore or itch like mad and covered in flakes or they make my hair disgusting! Am currently trying the third variety from OGX because everyone seems to love them but they destroy my scalp and my hair! I don't want to spend a lot either. Am I asking too much??

ESPA dona pink hair and scalp mud, its totally natural, the tube is better as you get more for your money. Perhaps try this as a scalp treatment and then your shampooing etc? Its great for excema too ans i use it on my hands. Try the wbsite a time to spa, as cheapest there.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/05/2015 09:43

Hello OP!

I have found, over the years, that the cheaper the shampoo, the better it is for my dry, flaky scalp and psoriasis. I think they have less chemical "additives" in

I used to swaer by Vosene - have you tried that?

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 06/05/2015 09:44

P.s. you can use it daily, perhaps sleep in it then wash it off in the morning? It canntake a while to work if you have a dry scalp however as its got no additives in it. Which i would presume with any type of natural product

You probably have Seborrheic dermatitis.

Try Nizoral shampoo. Alternate with a mild shampoo on your non-Nizoral days.

missmartha · 06/05/2015 09:46

I do agree about seeing your GP, probably save you a lot of money in the long term.

Meanwhile, Davines do a lovely gentle hair care range, including a range for coloured hair. They are £££ but also SLS free and they are gorgeous.

Also have you tried coal tar shampoo? I absolutley LOVE the smell of it!

Indecisivejo · 06/05/2015 13:46

Wow I'm overwhelmed by all the replies, thank you all! Smile

I didn't rate Philip Kingsley at all and my mum couldn't use that one either Hmm
Have tried green people (have tried almost everything lol) and again I didn't rate it, it left residue in my hair and made it a tangled mess.
I used to use vosene and loved it, loved the smell too! But since having hair coloured it's a no no as it makes it fade fast and feel really dry.
Wouldn't use anything with coal tar on my hair! I do like that smell though.
All the ones targeted for scalp problems eg t-gel, nizoral etc are full of chemicals Sad don't get me wrong I'm not one of these who only wants natural ingredients etc because I actually can't use a lot of natural products but I also don't want a bucket load of chemicals Hmm

Baby shampoo? Or as I said, vosene?

Why wouldn't you use coal tar on your hair? It's in the shampoo my gp gives me on prescription. I use it every 4 or 5 washed and it's great

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/05/2015 16:24

Yes, T Gel is great stuff. I like the smell tooGrin

Indecisivejo · 06/05/2015 16:29

Baby shamp is one of the worst in my opinion it's very drying! As I said in previous post I did like vosene but unfortunately I can't use it now as it fades my hair colour and dries it out.
Google why is coal tar bad in products.....that's why I won't use.

Really fed up with it, just used my mums gentle herb shamp in shower so will see how that goes and if not then I have no idea, maybe I'll give the loreal ever pure another try or tbs ginger shamp again. Grrrrrrrr

It may have been mentioned but have you tried to stop, or at least reduce, using any products with silicone? I have found that to make a very big difference so currently using Herbal Essences, the one with no silicone, parabens etc (can't remember name) and a silicone free conditioner by Nature's Gate. It's from the U.S. But I think you can get it online/EBay too.

Indecisivejo · 06/05/2015 17:34

Hi
Yes I have tried that and didn't really make a difference to me tbh. Thanks though.

Not sure about the coloured hair bit but for an itchy scalp I've found two fab shampoos: e45 and kerastase exfoliating hydrating shampoo.

Indecisivejo · 08/05/2015 21:40

Hi,
I used to like E45 shamp I used it for a while but then it stopped working for me. I'm not a kerastase fan.
I used vosene this morn but with a conditioner for coloured hair.

Aussie Mega totally stopped my itchy head and flakes. Think it was product build up. My hair actually swishes now. Worth paying more.

rootypig · 08/05/2015 21:45

Try Weleda calendula, hair and body wash. Or Dr Bronners liquid soap.

Indecisivejo · 08/05/2015 21:53

Aussie is harsh in my opinion Sad

Think I've given up trying natural ranges they don't seem to work for me.

Water softener?

mrsfollowill · 08/05/2015 22:34

Another fan of Aussie Mega here Smile I used to have a horribly itchy scalp but have used this for maybe 10 yrs now. My mother was exactly the same and we both swear by it SmileSmile

Kahu · 09/05/2015 05:41

Klorane oat shampoo - it's really mild, only thing that stopped my scalp from crazy itching.
