Please help me find a beautiful structured dress as wedding guest, but something off the beaten track

I have my brother's wedding in three weeks, and I have yet to find a dress. There are over 250 guests so at this stage I am nervous about getting something from the high street...in case someone else has it. I usually like structured dresses, so no stretchy material, sleeveless or short sleeves and like most colours really. My budget is up to around £120 but it would be nice to pay less! My tummy is still baggy from having a baby last year, but hopefully I can get some good underwear. I am a size 10 in theory...probably more 11 at the moment, going to the gym to try and tone up a bit.
Any suggestions for dresses online would be great as am starting to feeling the pressure...and stuck quite far from shops with three small kids. Thank you!

trixymalixy · 04/05/2015 23:31

hybrid?

LettuceLaughton · 04/05/2015 23:34

I'm confused about the sleeves thing now. Can't work out if you want them or not now. Bed time! Confused

Quite a distinct style so may not be to your taste but how about something from Lindy Bop? I don't have anything from there myself but I've heard good things about them.

HoolyHooly · 05/05/2015 07:29

Thanks for those. Think i would like something more tailored and fitted, not loose or stretchy. Usually I would go for maybe a monsoon fitted flare dress, but i know lots of girls going to the wedding have been getting dresses there. Would like either sleeveless or short, cap sleeves. Thanks!

Oh and I am about 5ft7, and would rather it is around the knee or just above.

Can recommend Lindy Bop as posted above. I have a number of the fifties style dresses, some with capped sleeves, all very fitted.

They have loads of prints and colours so you should be safe clash-wise!

Pantsalive · 05/05/2015 08:13

Anything on Not on the High Street? They sometimes have lovely dresses.

Pantsalive · 05/05/2015 08:31

Or Etsy but it's a bit harder to search.

LettuceLaughton · 05/05/2015 08:34

LindyBop have some nice stuff, yes. The quality isn't the best (particularly their synthetics) but maybe worth a look. Maybe also try LadyV, Collectif Clothing and Vivian of Holloway if you fancy that sort of style.

Poppy England do some fab dresses but a lot are over budget. this?

I bought a dress from Lindy Bop once and returned it, the fabric was horrible and it looked cheap. I do see it recommended on here a lot though so maybe I was unlucky? If you like that look, also try the brand 'Stop Staring' which is more expensive but better quality. Collectif and Campbell Crafts have nice dresses in the 40s and 50s styles. The nicest dress I've got from that style is from Whirling Turban - next time I've got a 'do' to go to I'm going to buy a short sleeved circle skirted 'Peggy Would' dress from there - think you may be too late for a special order from there but they may have something ready made? Also check out Unique Vintage which is a US site but great customer service and a huge range of dresses (not all vintage style!)

I love this one from NOTHS.

HoolyHooly · 05/05/2015 09:14

Thanks for those. Not really into the 50s look though I'm afraid. Looking for something more modern, noths might be a good one thanks, will have a search later. Usually I would go for something elegant from monsoon, karen millen or similar, something tailored and flattering, not too low cut.

Anything here tickle you OP?

There are some quite KM-esque dresses amongst the retro stuff imo.

EugenesAxe · 05/05/2015 09:22

I got a dress from Nancy Mac for a wedding recently and it's beautiful - but it is stretchy. Tailored stretchy but still stretchy. The one PP linked to may not be though as it's not lace? Their model I'm told is 5' 11', for judging length.

Mine was this one - it fell below my knee and I'm 5' 10".

Pootles2010 · 05/05/2015 09:23

I'd warn against the navy lace look - I wore that other weekend to wedding, there were about 12 of us all in our navy lace dresses with nude shoes Blush we must have looked like bridesmaids they were that alike.

Thank you so much. That chichi dress is amazing! But only in size 6 awww! Will have a look on asos. The pretty dresses are lovely too. Lots for me to look at. Thank you!
